5 Welcome Welcome to the Customer Learning Portal. This resource focuses on making useful information available and to share training content for selected Becton Dickinson products and services with our customers. What is the Customer Learning Portal? The Customer Learning Portal is a web site that helps deliver web-based training that is unique to meet each of our user's needs. Who Uses the Customer Learning Portal and How Becton Dickinson customers can use the resources in the Customer Learning Portal to learn about selected products and services, and how to use them to best advantage. The Customer Learning Portal allows you to perform the following: Access your account and web-based training in your web browser Browse and easily locate available training Learn about topics such as Alaris Infusion System, Pyxis Anesthesia System, MedStation, C II Safe and SupplyStation, MedMined Infection Prevention, respiratory technologies, V. Mueller instrument care, and more Create Groups quickly so you can share learning resources with your team Download SCORM 1.2 versions of basic tutorials to use in your Learning Management System o Educators: please see course CLP1251-DL for how to acquire the SCORM version for your facility. System Requirements You must disable the Pop-Up Blocker while you are working in the Customer Learning Portal. You must allow popups from or better, *.carefusion.com. You need the most current version of Adobe Flash Player plug-in for your browser. 6 Current versions of Internet Explorer from version 8.0 and up are supported. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0 and above, you may need to use The Customer Learning Portal in Compatibility View. Add *.carefusion.com to your browser s Compatibility View. See Microsoft instructions for how to do this: o o IE9, IE10, IE11 and IE Edge: The site senses your version and displays the correct page for your system. The site has also been tested with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari in Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10; and Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox in Macintosh OS 10.8 and 10.9 o You may still experience difficulty with some browsers, such as course completions not posting properly. You may need to use the course in compatibility view depending on the course. The site uses Java and Flashplayer in a number of courses. Therefore, while the site can be used on ipad, many courses may not be compatible with the ipad. Courses are not formatted for mobile devices, so some screens may be difficulty to read even if they can play on your mobile device. How to Create Your Account in CLP The Customer Learning Portal is a password-protected website that you can access with a user name and password you create during registration. CLP accounts are free of charge. All that is required is a valid address. CLP is provided to support Becton Dickinson customers in using selected products and services. Students and the public are also welcome to complete training in the Customer Learning Portal. Educators may register other users to speed access for them, using their own addresses for account activation. Accounts in CLP are for the purposes of identifying users for the purpose of facilitating their own learning activities. The user accounts are not authenticated, and the system is not validated for the purpose of retaining training records for any regulatory agency. This system is intended only for the convenience of our users to access information BD. All rights reserved. 7 How to register for a CLP account To register for an account, complete the following steps: There is no charge for this account, and access to the basic training tutorials is free for everyone, including customers, students, caregivers and more. 1. Open the Customer Learning Portal: If the site does not look like the above, you may be directing to an old version in your computer browser. Use the following URL to be sure: BD. 8 2. At the bottom of the Welcome Screen, click New User Registration. a. The User Registration Form appears. 3. Type your information into the fields provided. Fields marked by * are required; other fields are optional. a. Account Info Section: i. Enter your first name, last name, and job title (e.g., Student, Caregiver, etc.) BD. All rights reserved. 9 ii. Enter your address. Important: Please type your address carefully. We will be sending you an activation immediately, and if your address is not correct, it will not arrive. iii. Account Type: 1. Choose Professional if you are currently working in health care. 2. Choose Student if you are enrolled in an academic program and not yet employed in health care. 3. Choose Other if you are a caregiver or using the content for other reasons. 4. If you are in doubt, use Professional. b. Workplace or School Info: i. Enter the name of the actual facility where you work (e.g., Central Hospital), instead of the corporate name (e.g., Giant Health Network). If you will be adding multiple users at this same name and address, please remove any special characters ([{ %& }]) so that the address can be copied automatically. See To register another user click here for more information about how to do this. 1. If you are a student, enter the name of your school (e.g., Pharmacy Tech University). 2. If you are a caregiver, you may leave these fields blank. ii. Enter the street address where you work, or the campus address where you are enrolled. iii. Country: In the United States, enter USA. If you leave it blank, we will assume it is USA. c. Login Info: i. Enter the User Name you would like to use. 1. If you don t enter anything, the system will suggest a user name of firstname.lastname. 2. You may use an address, or anything that is memorable for you BD. All rights reserved. 10 3. When you click Register, the system will check for duplicates and will suggest a unique user name if someone has already used the one you entered. 4. Click Register. ii. Enter the password you want to use. 1. Write down your password. For security purposes, the password is not ed to you. 2. The password must be 6-15 characters in length, and must have at least one letter and one number. 3. Do not use special characters (!@#$%^&*(+=<>?) or international letters. 4. If you forget later, you can use the Forgot Password? link on the USER LOGIN screen to set a new password. a. Message from webpage: To prevent automated systems from creating accounts and blocking access to our real users, we must add a human verification step. Thank you for your understanding. i. If you are sure you want to submit the registration, click OK. ii. If you need to go back and correct anything, especially your address, click Cancel and correct your entries. 11 5. The Registration Confirmation page appears. a. Take a moment and confirm the information. Write down your User Name and password if you haven t done so already. b. Check your immediately. c. If no arrives within a few minutes, double-check the exact spelling of your address. Check your junk mail folder. 12 Educators: How to Create Multiple Accounts To register another user click here If you have a number of trainees to register at once, you can use your same address to activate the accounts. They may be entered one by one as follows: 1. Click on the link at the bottom of the confirmation page to start entering a new registration. 2. For your convenience, company and address fields will be copied from the last record you entered. a. The same address is entered for all the users to help you manage the account activations centrally. b. Simply track the unique user name and password you create for the new accounts, and communicate them to the users after you activate the accounts BD. All rights reserved. 13 c. At your option, you can activate and log into the accounts the first time, and set a security question and answer and time zone for the users. Consider using this with My Groups to track your users completions centrally. After you activate the account, you can click on your custom Group address to log in the first time, set the security question, answer, time zone, and click YES to subscribe to the Group. Or provide the custom group address in your instructions to the users so they can do that when they first log in. Important Data Entry Rules 1. If you will be adding multiple users at this same name and address, please remove any special characters ([{ %& }]) so that the address can be copied automatically. a. Example: In the Workplace Name field, instead of Children s Hospital you will enter Childrens Hospital. 2. If you are uncomfortable with changing how your data is entered, you may turn on your browser s AutoComplete feature so that the browser can copy the fields for you exactly as you typed them. a. 14 Activate Your Account from Your Click the Activation Link Once you receive your registration activation , click the underlined link in the middle of the page (see highlighted areas below) BD. 15 Activation Successful You May Log In Now When your activation is successful, you may click on the link at the bottom of the page to return to the main login page. Proceed to the Login Section below. Log In to The Customer Learning Portal Log In as a First Time User If you are a first time user, use the username and password you provided at registration, and complete the following steps to log in to your account: 1. Open the Customer Learning Portal login page: Hint: Add this website to your Favorites/Bookmarks on your browser BD. All rights reserved. 16 2. Select your Secret Question, and type your Secret Answer on the next line. You ll need these if you ever need to request a password reset. 3. 17 4. Click Update to save your changes. 5. You will be taken to your home screen in the Customer Learning Portal. 6. 18 How to Log In for Future Sessions Once you have activated your account and completed the initial account setup, you may log in at any time, using the steps below. 1. Open the Customer Learning Portal at 2. In the User ID field, type your user name. 3. In the Password field, type the password you created during your registration. a. If you used the Forgot Password link and have a temporary password, copy and paste that temporary password into the Password field now. 4. Click Login BD. All rights reserved. 19 How to Change Your Password Forgot or want to change password? Follow these steps to request a new temporary password. 1. Open the Customer Learning Portal at 2. If you have more than one account, a new field will appear to ask you the user name for which you want to change the password. b. In the Password field, enter your temporary password. It is casesensitive, so you must type it perfectly or better, use the Copy+Paste method described below: Use the Copy+Paste method for best results. Highlight the Password in your and press Ctrl-C to copy it into your Clipboard. Click into the Password field, and press Ctrl- V to paste it in BD. All rights reserved. 23 If the screen does not look like this, with the picture on the left and the login fields on the right, you may be using an old copy of the site in your browser cache history, and you will not be able to log in. 24 Change Your Temporary Password 1. In the Enter old password field, the temporary password you entered in the login screen is automatically inserted for you. a. If it is missing for any reason, paste the temporary password from your again. The password is still stored in your Clipboard. Click into the Enter temporary password that was ed to you field, and press Ctrl-V to paste it in. 2. In the Enter new password field, type a new password. You should change your password to something you can remember. Use the following rules: a. Must be 6 15 characters in length. b. Must contain at least one numerical digit and one alphabetic character. c. Cannot contain any special characters (e.g., ^) or international letters (e.g. é, ç, ü). 3. In the Confirm new password field, type your new password again. a. You must match the same case (upper v. lower letters). 4. Click Submit. a. If you are a first time user and have not provided your security question or time zone in a previous session, the My Profile Setting page appears with the message: you must select your time zone and security question/answer before proceeding. b. 25 How to Access Training Not In Catalog If you need to see training items that are not appearing in your Training Catalog, please contact Support at Please provide complete information about your Facility (Name, Address, City, State/Province, and Zip Code/Postal Code), Account Number, and which content you need to see. Our support team will respond to your request within one business day. How to Sign Out of the Customer Learning Portal In the top right corner of the menu or the screen, click Sign out BD. 27 Training Catalog Find your Course The TRAINING CATALOG section of the Learning Portal allows you to search for courses, complete web-based courses, and review training documents. What types of training are available? There are four training types available: Web Based Training consists of self-paced, online training courses that you can take and mark complete on your transcript. Instructor Led Training is delivered and marked complete by an instructor in either an in-person or a virtual/real-time (e.g., WebEx, Web Conferencing) environment. Training Documents consist of written training documentation. You can record on your transcript the fact that you reviewed a training document by marking the training complete. Training Events consist of customer-focused training that occurs outside the Customer Learning Portal (e.g., learning paths, webcasts, and documents). You can mark this training complete if you wish to track it on your transcript BD. All rights reserved. 28 Fastest Way to Find Training The fastest way to find training is by clicking TRAINING CATALOG on the top menu, and then clicking the Item number link from the displayed list (see image below). How to Find Training When the List Gets Longer There are five methods available to search for training: By search (based on your own keyword search) By filter (using the Training Catalog filter) By type (based on the four types listed above) By product (based on specific products) By calendar (instructor led training schedule) Find Training with the Search Tool 1. From the MY LEARNING PORTAL home page, click TRAINING CATALOG on the top menu. 2. At the top of the TRAINING CATALOG page, locate the Search for field and type a key word in the Search for box, and click Search. a. Single word (e.g., MedStation) BD. All rights reserved. 29 b. Sequence of words (e.g., System Manager) c. Wild card (% and word[s]) (e.g., %System or CII%) 3. The screen will refresh to display all courses that contain your search word anywhere in the course description. 4. Browse the list of training that appears. 30 Find Training with the Filter 1. Item. If you know the Item number, use it in the Search for box initially. a. Alternatively, you can select Filter by Item, and type all or part of the Item Number in the search box. b. Click Filter to limit the list to all items that start with what you have typed in the search box. 2. Type. Select Type in the Filter by drop-down menu to filter by a type of training. In the filter box to the right, enter what type of training you want to see, such as Web Based, Instructor Led, Document, or Event. Click the Filter button. 3. Brand. Select Brand in the Filter by drop-down menu to look for training for a specific brand of products, like Pyxis or Alaris. In the filter box to the BD. All rights reserved. 31 right, enter the brand you want to see, such as Pyxis or Alaris. Click the Filter button. 4. Product. Select Product in the Filter by drop-down menu to look for training for a specific product, like MedMined or MedStation ES. In the filter box to the right, enter the product you want to see, such as MedStation. Click the Filter button. 5. Title. Select Title in the Filter by drop-down menu to look for a specific phrase in the Title. In the filter box to the right, enter a phrase to search, such as System Manager. Use a wildcard (%) to broaden your options, such as MedStation % Manager. Click the Filter button. Find Training by Type on the Right Side Menu This option allows you to search for training courses based on the type of training to which they ve been categorized. Follow the steps below: 1. From the MY LEARNING PORTAL home page, click the TRAINING CATALOG link on the top menu. 2. In the right side menu, click on a type, such as TRAINING DOCUMENTS, WEB-BASED TRAINING, or INSTRUCTOR-LED TRAINING, and the main screen will only display training of that type. 3. Browse the list of training that appears. You can click individual course Item numbers to view more detailed information about a given course. Find Training by Product on the Right Side Menu This option allows you to find courses on specific products. Follow the steps below: 1. From the MY LEARNING PORTAL home page, click the TRAINING CATALOG link on the top menu. 2. Under the Training Items heading, from the Filter by drop-down menu, select Product BD. All rights reserved. 32 3. Type the Product you want to focus on, and click Filter. 4. Browse the list of training that appears. You can click individual course Item numbers to view more detailed information about a given course. How do I take a web-based training course? Start at the Training Catalog You can take an online web-based training course at any time that fits your schedule. Follow the steps below: 1. From the MY LEARNING PORTAL page, click TRAINING CATALOG on the top menu. 2. In the right side menu of the TRAINING CATALOG page, click WEB-BASED TRAINING, or you can use any of the search methods discussed previously to shorten the list BD. All rights reserved. 33 3. Browse the list of courses that appears and click the Item number to display the Item Details page, which provides more information about the course. 4. Click Begin Training to start the course and to receive credit for completing the course. 5. Proceed through the course using the navigation pane (if present), the course controls at the bottom, and/or the Back and Next buttons in the course browser window BD. All rights reserved. 34 Note: To stop the training and start the session at a later time, click Exit or close the browser window. a. If you close a web-based training course without completing, you will see a Continue Training button when you return. Click to resume training where you left off. b. Some courses retain the bookmark differently, so you may need to advance through a section if you have already seen it. c. If you close a course immediately upon opening it, the button may still say Begin Training. 6. After completing the training, return to the Item Details page for that course. The Student status field displays your completion date. Note: After you have completed a web-based training course, you have the option to retake the training. To start the course again and receive credit, click Retake Course. For some courses, you have the option to audit the course without receiving credit. 7. Some courses do not have an option to audit the course for no credit. Finished Training Print Certificate When you complete the training and return to the Item Details screen, your Student status at the very bottom of the screen will be updated to Complete on [Current Date and Time]. 35 2. The Certificate of Completion window opens. Click the Print Certificate icon in the upper right corner to print the certificate. 3. Select the appropriate printer for your system, and click Print BD. All rights reserved. 36 4. Click the x in the upper right corner to close the certificate and return to the Customer Learning Portal. a. How to Read a Training Document If you wish to read a training document, download and save the document to your computer and then read the document. Follow the steps below: 1. From the MY LEARNING PORTAL page, click TRAINING CATALOG on the top menu. 2. In the right side menu, click TRAINING DOCUMENTS. 3. Browse the list of documents that appears and click the document Item number to display the Item Details page, which provides more information about the document BD. All rights reserved. 40 My Learning Portal Home Page My Learning Portal is your home page on the Customer Learning Portal. You can review news and announcements and link to your profile, schedule, training, and transcript to manage your learning experience. My Profile Your profile contains detailed information related to your Customer Learning Portal account. At any time, you can update your profile information, add attachments and state license information, and review your training subscriptions. Update My Profile Follow the steps below to update your MY PROFILE Details page. 1. From MY LEARNING PORTAL, click MY PROFILE in the right side menu. 2. The My Profile page opens on the Details view. This view can be changed using the drop-down list in the top right corner. 3. Make any necessary changes to this page. 4. 48 My Groups My Groups is a new way for you to easily collaborate with other users and suggest training they might find useful. Any user can identify one or more training items and suggest them to their colleagues, who they can invite to join their group. You can create as many groups as you like to suggest training to different groups of users, based on the specific topics they want to learn about. The groups are not a formal training assignment system, and are not to be used as a learning management system. CLP is not a validated system under the terms and requirements of any regulatory agency, and information gleaned in the Groups area may not be relied upon as electronic evidence of training records for any regulatory purpose. The intention of the groups is to facilitate knowledge sharing among CLP users, and facilitate engagement in learning activities. Who Can Create a Group? Any CLP user can create a group and invite other users to join the group. When they accept your invitation, users grant you permission to see some information they share about courses they are using. 49 3. Complete the Details about your group: a. Group Name. This must be unique in the system. If you would like to make a group to share training with everyone from the first floor, for example, type First Floor [your initials, or your name]. That way, if someone else is using the term First Floor, you won t be duplicating their group name. b. Group Type. This field is for information only. Select Professional or Peer as desired. c. Summary. Type a brief description (up to 50 characters) of your group. This will display on your My Groups listing to help you distinguish among your groups. d. Description. 53 3. There are several ways to invite users to join your group: a. For small numbers of people, you can type their addresses separated by semi-colons (;). b. For large numbers, you can copy a large list of addresses from, for example, a spreadsheet. Paste that list in the box, and the system will format the list and insert semi-colons between the names for you. c. They can be any address of the user: personal or otherwise. d. You can write a custom in your own software, and include the link highlighted in the yellow Note at the bottom of your page. That link will direct your users how to join your group after they register in CLP. i. You can do this any time, even if users already have a CLP account and have already completed the training. This will allow them to join your group to share their information with you. 4. Click Invite Members. The system will send an invitation containing a link to join your group. 5. If you want to send an invitation to another group of s, first delete the previous group of s, then you may repeat the steps above as many times as necessary. 7. Group Invitation from CLP Here is a sample invitation like the one sent by CLP (the text of the actual system is subject to change without notice): Hello, I have set up a group in the BD Customer Learning Portal ( to make it easy for us to share useful information about knowledge you can use. Please click the following link to join the Mercy Hospital group at your earliest convenience. Existing Customer Learning Portal users can log in immediately and join the group, which will share your learning information with me. You can see the Suggested Items for the Group in the new 'My Groups' menu on the right side of the screen. Click the link beside any suggested item on the list to get started quickly. If you re new to the BD Customer Learning Portal ( click the New User Registration link and complete the information on the form. The system will send you an activation right away. Click the link in the to activate your account. Then return to this and click the special link above to join the group. 57 User Responses to the Invitation If you are writing your own invitation , it may be helpful to know that the following steps will occur for your users so you can set their expectations appropriately. There are two kinds of users who will respond: existing Customer Learning Portal users and those who have not yet used the system. 1. New CLP users will need to click New User Registration the first time they arrive. a. They will fill out basic demographic information and create their user name and password. (See the detailed Registering for an Account procedure above.) This step only takes a moment, and the system immediately sends them an Activation . b. After they click the link in their Activation , users can log in to the Customer Learning Portal and set their time zone and secret question. c. Users can then return to your and click your Group invitation link. The Group confirmation screen appears, and users can click the link to go directly to your group. 2. Existing CLP users can simply click your invitation link. a. The link will bring them to the Customer Learning Portal where they can log in using the user name and password they have already set. b. When they are logged in, they will receive a confirmation note with a link to view your group. What Users See When They Join Your Group When registered CLP users click your link and log in to The Customer Learning Portal, they will see the confirmation screen below. Convert Another Member to Co-Administrator You can invite another member to share in the administration of your group by promoting one of your group members to Co-Administrator. Your Co- Administrator can do the legwork of inviting new members, removing members from your group, and adding suggested training items to your group. Click the Thumbs Up icon to convert a Member to a Co-Administrator. 3. Convert a Co-Administrator to a Regular Member If your Co-Administrator will no longer be performing administration tasks for your group, you can convert them back to a regular Member BD. Export a User s Complete Transcript to a Spreadsheet Even though the term transcript is used here to describe the learning history in CLP, this is not a formal transcript and should not be relied upon as evidence of electronic records for any purpose. By joining your group, regular Members share their learning history in the Customer Learning Portal with you and any other administrators in your group. Regular Members cannot see information other than their own learning history. Only the administrators (the Administrator and any Co-Administrators) can see their group Members learning history. Click the green spreadsheet icon to export an individual Member s learning history. Note: To export all your members learning history at once, use the Training Progress report on the Reporting tab. 5. Remove a Member from the Group Click the x to remove a Member from your group. Note: To remove a Co-Administrator, first click the Thumbs Down icon to convert to a regular Member, then click the x. 6. Add More Members to the Group You can use the same procedures you did the first time to add new Members to your group. Refer to Invite Members to Join Your Group above for detailed information. 64 Troubleshooting Tips Activation Errors and How to Respond Error: Activation Not Received If you did not receive your Activation after you registered, the may have been sent to your bulk/junk/spam folder, or the delivery failed for the address that was entered during registration. Feel free to try again using a different address that you know is working. Test it by sending an to yourself at the address and make sure it is working. Contact your work IT department if you are not sure about your work address. You can use a business or personal address. Send us an at CustomerLearning@CareFusion.com from your address so we can help you get your account activated for the right address. During business hours, we will contact you to manually activate your account and update the address on file. Error: Activation Link won t Activate in Your Browser If your browser won t allow the link code from the , navigate to the manual activation page: Copy and paste, or type, your activation code after the id= in the box provided, and click Activate.
