Thereby the tip of the probe and the installation adaptor form an electric condenser. If the probe is in the air, a certain low starting capacity is measured. The capacity value changes when the probe is inserted in the medium. This value is defined by the geometry of the probe and the DK value of the medium. Here are some examples in the table drawn up below. All types of the MLC system family are based on this measuring principle. In all forms of design the switching point can, be set to a DK value, which is sensitive for the application. Thanks to the programmable response time the wave movements of the medium in the transition area between full and empty do not lead to uncontrolled switching processes.
