3 Back Office Services We carry out back office services for many of our fellow agents whom do not have their own offices in Amsterdam. Our software, being customised for each client, guarantees the strict separation of information streams. It goes without saying that our Chinese walls are real Chinese walls. After all, trust is our core competence. 4 VISION OF TRUST Principal cargo flows Our main clients operate in the tanker trade, dry bulk shipping, timber- and cruise vessels. From our offices in Ventspils and Riga, Latvia, we also handle, among other things, a roll-on/roll-of service between Lubeck - Ventspils - St. Petersburg. In both Latvia and The Netherlands most navy ships from NATO nations are entrusted to our agency, we proudly consider this activity as our valuable blue stamp. Out of the approximate vessels that Silver Star Agencies deal with on an annual basis, some 750 are tankers, carrying clean petroleum products, fuel oil, gas, chemicals and vegoil products. 5 NO HASSLE General Cargo (some 325 vessels annually) Traditionally, Silver Star Agencies has been involved in timber imports from Archangelsk, Onega, the Baltic states and the UK. We have been active in this trade for decades. SSA is proud to have contacts with every link in the chain. On average, a vessel will carry 3500 cubic metres of sawn timber, sterling board or logs, destined mainly for Beverwijk, Moerdijk and Delfzijl. Dry bulk in the form of fodder is principally a back office activity for us. The cargo mostly goes from OBA s and IGMA s Amsterdam terminals by coaster to Scandinavia and the Baltic states. Tanker Trade (some 750 vessels annually) A tradition going back a number of decades has given us ample experience in the tanker trade from the Baltic Sea/Russia to the ARA-range, and from the ARA-range to West Africa and the America s. Amsterdam is, for example, the largest Western European hub for petrol products with extensive storage and blending facilities. Our clients are mainly oil traders and buyers, as well as ship owners, we have been doing business with for a long time. Since 2007 our share in this cargo flow has grown by an astonishing 400 %. In this business the knowledge of documentation and the essence of quality and/or quantity of the cargo is of the utmost importance. Reacting quickly and knowing how to get in touch with the clients and, for instance, the right surveyors is essential in such cases. Because of the proximity of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport al lot of crew changes take place in Amsterdam and IJmuiden, which means hotel reservations, transfers and so on.
