Marieke became the brand owner in 1998, and this was the start of At Home with Marieke. Marieke and Jack ran At Home, a home decor store, in Eemnes, Holland. At Home become known throughout Holland. Marieke is drawn to vintage fabrics and items because of their history and quality. At Home with Marieke winks at the past by bringing the vintage look and feel to present day. Marieke develops each item in the collection with care and thought of you, the customer. Her desire is to design and present a cozy, comfortable aesthetic. 10 Marketing and Sales by: Cozy, comfortable a feeling of being At Home In 1998 my husband, Jack, and I took a chance and a change of direction in our lives by starting a home decor store called At Home. We were one of the first stores that sold old, lived-in, weathered furniture that had been given new life. On purchase trips I noticed that I often looked for authentic, unique and if possible, old fabrics and materials. We found beautiful bedspreads and fabrics in Paris. These vintage products touched me deeply with their history and craftsmanship. They inspired me to create and recreate patterns and combinations for dish ware and other small home accessories and items. This inspiration is what led me to starting the original collection for At Home with Marieke in The collection is timeless and unique in its simplicity. Most of my designs find their origin in textiles with authentic, pure quality; linen, rough cotton, flannel, plaid, stripes and florals - all in perfect unison. Mixing and matching is essential and one thing that I m passionate about in my designs. At Home with Marieke is a direct extension of me and atmosphere I love - the warm, cozy feeling of being At Home.
