2 Mixed recycling blue wheeled bin or reusable bags You can recycle packaging from all round your home. Rinse items and place them loose, not bagged into your blue bin or bags. If your blue bin or bags contain the wrong materials, we will be unable to empty them. Plastic bottles (lids separate), pots, tubs and trays Tins, cans and aerosols Foil (clean and scrunched up) Glass bottles and jars (lids separate) Milk, juice and soup cartons Shampoo, body wash and mouthwash bottles Items we cannot accept in your blue bin or bags: Plastic carrier bags or bin liners Paper or cardboard (Please use your recycling box) Plastic plant pots or toys Cling film and plastic wrapping Household glassware and china Crisp, sweet and biscuit wrappers Polystyrene e.g. food trays or cups General rubbish Pet bedding or litter

3 Paper and cardboard green or black recycling box You can recycle paper and cardboard, as long as it s not waxed or soiled with food or oil. Place your items loose, not bagged into your green or black recycling box. If your box contains the wrong materials, we will be unable to empty it. Newspapers and magazines Paper, envelopes, greeting cards and wrapping paper Books, directories and catalogues Cardboard packaging and corrugated card Kitchen and toilet roll tubes Cardboard egg boxes Items we cannot accept in your green or black recycling box: Waxed or laminated paper Cartons (please use your blue wheeled bin or bags) General rubbish Plastic carrier bags or bin liners Textile and battery collections Red sacks are used to collect unwanted textiles and small clear bags are used to collect batteries. Present the sacks and clear bags on top of your blue bin or bag for collection on recycling week. If you require red sacks or small clear bags please contact the Joint Waste Team. 4 Food waste brown bin You can put food, cooked or uncooked, into your brown bin. Place your food loose, or wrapped in compostable liners into your brown bin. Do not use plastic carrier bags to wrap your waste. If your brown bin contains the wrong items, we will be unable to empty it. Any food - raw, cooked, burnt Plate scrapings Fruit and vegetables Meat and fish skins, bones and shells Tea bags and coffee granules Cheese, yoghurt and other dairy Egg shells Pasta and rice If you do use compostable liners, please make sure they have one of these logos. Pet food (meat and biscuits) Bread, biscuits, crisps, cakes and pastries Items we cannot accept in your brown bin: Plastic carrier bags or non-compostable bin liners Garden waste Large quantities of liquid e.g. milk or gravy Any food packaging Pet bedding and litter Pet waste

5 Garden waste green wheeled bin or reusable bags You can put garden waste into your green bin or bags. Place your materials loose, not bagged into your green bin or bags. If your green bin or bags contain the wrong materials, we will be unable to empty them. The garden waste collection service will be suspended between Monday 21 December Tuesday 5 January Grass cuttings Leaves Tree, hedge and shrub trimmings Plants and flowers Weeds (non-noxious) Small branches (6cm diameter max) Materials we cannot accept in your green bin / bags: Plastic carrier bags or bin liners Food waste Noxious weeds e.g. - Japanese Knotweed - Ragwort - Giant Hogweed Compostable liners Turf Soil Stones and rocks Pet bedding and litter

6 Rubbish black wheelie bin or purple sacks Unfortunately, not everything can be recycled. Please place all other items which cannot be composted or recycled into your black bin or purple sacks. Common items are pictured below. Black bin: Only waste contained inside the bin with the lid fully closed will be collected. We will not collect extra bags of waste. Purple sacks: We are only able to collect a maximum of four purple sacks every fortnight. Plastic carrier bags, cling film and plastic wrapping Nappies Plastic plant pots and toys Polystyrene trays, cups and packaging Crisp, sweet and biscuit wrappers Broken glass and china Pet bedding and litter Empty paint tins Items we do not collect from your black bin or purple sacks include: Batteries Garden waste Soil* Turf* Electrical appliances* Building materials* Car parts* Sharps, Needles ** * Items must be disposed of at your local household recycling centre ** Sharps, Needles require a separate collection
