Ralf Evertz and Dipl.-Oec. Stefan Evertz, were around from the very beginning. The two photos were taken almost 40 years ago. The EVERTZ scarfing machines were not sold on the market. Within the framework of complete scarfing service packages, the machines were operated by specially trained EVERTZ personnel. This service also included maintenance and repair and was paid on a price per square meter or tonne basis. Evertz guaranteed quality, performance and around-the-clock availability. The customer was relieved from the duty of keeping permanent stocks of spare parts, as EVERTZ kept the necessary inventories of spare modules or even complete replacement machines. Wherever costs play a role there was, and today there still is, no economic alterna- 2 3

The scarfing demonstrations have been completed successfully. The machine is operated manually. Advantages: Best view of the torch and the slab; immediate recognition and removal of defects during the scarfing process. The operator can react immediately. Slabs of 90 t and above can be scarfed. We are constantly upgrading and improving our gas technology. In the case of upgrades and improvements the retrofitting of machines with older gas systems is guaranteed.
