4 2nd Semester Exam Exemptions If a student sits for the PARCC exams in English 1, Algebra 1 or Geometry, they will be exempt from the 2nd semester exam.

5 PARCC Gradua0on Requirements 7 PARCC Assessments: English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology (15-16), American History, & American Government The minimum number of overall graduation points required: 18 English: 4 points on (2) tests Math: 4 points on (2) tests Science and Social Studies: 6 points on (3 tests) SCORING FOR EACH TEST:

6 General Testing Information All 9th graders enrolled in Eng. 1/Hon. Eng. 1, Alg. I or Geometry, are required to test to earn quality points towards graduation. Students will test in classrooms (approx. 25/room) and be taking a paper/pencil version for ALL assessments. Special Education Students will receive appropriate accommodations.

7 PARCC ENGLISH I Performance-Based Assessment (PBA): February 23, 24, 25. End of Year (EOY): April 21st and 22nd

8 ELA/Literacy Task Types: 1. Literary Analysis - This task will ask students to carefully consider literature of case study and compose an analytic essay. 2. Research - Students will analyze an informational topic presented through several articles or multimedia stimuli. The first text will be an anchor text that introduces the topic. Students will engage with the texts by answering a series of questions and synthesizing information from multiple sources to write analytic essays. 3. Narrative Prose Constructed Response - In this task, students may be asked to write a story, detail a scientific process write an historical account of important figures or describe an account of events, scenes or objects.

9 Students could be asked to complete THREE item types for each task: Prose Constructed Response (PCR): This term refers to a specific item type on the PARCC ELA/literacy assessments in which students are required to produce written prose in response to a test prompt. These measure reading and writing claims. THINK ESSAY! Evidence-Based Selected Response (EBSR): The term refers to a type of ELA/literacy test item that asks students to show the evidence in a text that led them to a previous answer. Technology-Enhanced Constructed Response (TECR):This ELA/ literacy item uses technology to capture student comprehension of texts in authentic ways that have been historically difficult to capture using current assessments. Examples include using drag and drop, cut and paste, and highlight text features.

10 Performance Based Assessment (PBA) English I Units: English Unit 1- Feb. 23: 12 Mul(ple Choice Ques(ons 1 Essay worth 19 points English Unit 2- Feb. 24: 18 Mul(ple Choice Ques(ons 1 Essay worth 19 points. English Unit 3- Feb. 25: 10 Mul(ple Choice Ques(ons 1 Essay worth 15 points.

11 English I End of Year Assessment (EOY) Administered after approximately 90 percent of the school year. The EOY will focus on reading comprehension and is worth 44 points.

12 PARCC Algebra I/Geometry Performance-Based Assessment (PBA): March 2nd and 3rd End of Year (EOY): April 28th and 29th

13 PBA (Part 1): 18 ques(ons worth 42 points March 2nd = 90 minutes March 3rd = 75 minutes Question Type and Point Values

14 Type I: Balance of conceptual understanding, fluency, and application. Worth 1 or 2 points each and machine scorable Multiple Choice or Short Answer Fill-in Part of both PBA (March) and EOY (April- May)

15 Type II: Involve written arguments/justifications, critique of reasoning, or precision in mathematical statements. Worth 3 or 4 points each Mix of innovative, machine, and handscored responses Part of PBA only (March)

16 Type III: Type III tasks require modeling/application in a real-world context or scenario Worth 3 or 6 points each Mix of innovative, machine, and hand scored responses Part of PBA only (March)

17 EOY Test (Part 2) April 28th and 29th End of Year Assessment (EOY): End-of-year assessments are administered after approximately 90 percent of the school year. All questions are machine or hand-scorable. Calculator and non calculator parts 35 questions worth 52 points: 21 questions at 1 point 11 questions at 2 points 3 questions at 3 points

18 US History: Performance-Based Assessment (PBA): March 10th End of Year (EOY): May 5

19 General Testing Information: All 10th graders in US History required to test but not required to earn quality points towards graduation. AP US History students must take AP US History test or both sections of US History State Assessment. US History is a 2-part test: Performance Based (PBA) and End of Year Students will test in large-group setting. (Gym) Students will receive special education accommodations.

20 Performance Based Assessment (PBA): March Total Points on March test. Length of Test: 90 minutes Students who test will NOT take final exam.

21 Question Types: Multiple Choice: 4 Options Graphic Response: Document, data, table etc to which question refers with question or prompt Short Answer: Document, data, table etc with response area for students to write response Short Constructed Response (SCR): Document, graphics or data to which question or set of questions is aligned that requires detailed written response or responses. Extended Construction Response (ECR): Requires more elaborate response than SCR. No SCR or ECR on May test. 50% of May test is Multiple Choice. (44 points)

23 US Government: Performance-Based Assessment (PBA): March 9th End of Year (EOY): May 4

24 General Testing Information: All Juniors in US Government required to test, including 1st semester US Government students, in March and May. Required to test but not required to earn quality points towards graduation this year. Students in AP Gov must take AP Gov test or take both sections of US Gov test. Students who test will NOT take final exam. All juniors will test in large-group setting. (Gym) Special education students will receive appropriate accommodations.

(unless taking AP Gov test) Performance Based is worth 20 points. 50% of May test is Multiple-Choice with no Short- Constructed or Extended-Response. (44 points)
