2 JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Freelance Cycle Events Staff Member Are you an enthusiastic cyclist? Are you a great communicator? Would you like to share your passion for cycling? Outspoken Cycles is recruiting motivated individuals to deliver fun, dynamic, high quality cycle events for businesses, community groups and local authorities. As well as being a regular and competent cyclist, you must be able to communicate effectively and have a real passion for cycling and getting others on their bikes. Job Purpose Deliver fun, high quality events from our ever expanding range of cycle inspired activities. Including; The Smoothie Bike, Pedal Powered Scalextrics, Watt Challenge, Pedal Powered Cinema, Cycle Try Out Shows...and the list goes on! To make these events a success you need to be; motivated by a love of cycling, outgoing and a confident communicator. You may need to travel to events by bike, often with a large trailer, and be happy working outdoors. The number of hours worked may vary greatly from one week to the next depending on the number of events being run, the location, size and team member availability. We cannot guarantee any level of work, it is very much on an as and when basis. Responsibilities Set up and run high quality promotional cycling activities Liaise with business and community groups on site Complete events paperwork including; health and safety checks, equipment reports and incident report forms Conduct risk assessments of onsite set up areas Requirements Potential staff members must: Be passionate about cycling with an understanding of cycling as; a sport, means of transport, leisure pursuit and healthy form of exercise Be a regular, competent cyclist able to cycle in a variety of traffic conditions, including busy urban environments

3 Be fit and healthy. Our events cover a wide geographical area and you will be standing up whilst working Be able to complete the relevant paperwork which is involved with being selfemployed as you will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance Be punctual, presentable, reliable and trustworthy, friendly, patient and enthusiastic, and have the ability to stay calm in all situations Attend relevant training on how to use the Outspoken Events kit It is also useful if you: Possess an up-to-date first aid qualification Have undergone an up to date enhanced DBS disclosure as the variety of work available may be larger for staff members who have undergone this check. Are aged over 25 and hold a full, clean driving licence Have access to a car as we work throughout Cambridgeshire as well as in Huntingdonshire and Peterborough Have good basic bike maintenance skills Be available to work weekends Have other work, or do not rely on cycle events as your main source of income. Why? Our events are ad-hoc and can vary greatly in regularity. Due to the nature of the work it is much easier to find work for people who are flexible in the working hours and can be available sometimes at short notice Daily working hours can vary from between 0 and 8 hours. Availability of work is often seasonal; we have a much higher number of events during the summer
