4 Learn through direct partner interaction. As an intern, you ll often have the opportunity to report to and/or work closely with a partner. HA&W partners are committed to the long-term career development of their interns because approximately 80 percent of interns each year are hired as full-time HA&W employees. 5 Gain real world experience. HA&W interns have the same responsibilities as full-time firstyear staff. You ll gain hands-on experience working onsite with business owners, working through a busy season or even traveling out of state to work with clients. We let our interns go deep. You will be challenged, but we guarantee that you will receive the instruction, attention and direction you need to succeed in realworld tax, audit and consulting situations. HA&W interns work in three areas: Audit Interns work with our audit teams onsite at client engagements advising clients in a wide range of industries. Tax Experience the entire platform of both business and partnership returns, working side-by-side with an HA&W tax partner and at times communicating directly with the client. Advisory Business Services (ABS) Focus on tax-related work for small-to-medium sized businesses and high-net-worth individuals. Work directly with clients/business owners, senior HA&W team members and partners. 5

6 HA&W provides a meaningful intern experience. We hire an average of 80 percent of our interns as full-time employees each year. Philip s experience: As a tax intern, I prepared over 100 tax returns including federal, multi-state, corporate, partnership and individual returns, just as a first-year staff accountant would. I really needed help one weekend, and I called one of our partners multiple times while working on a big project. He was so open and accessible to me, and I really appreciated that. And everybody is like that. I have developed many strong relationships while at HA&W. Philip, Tax Staff University of Georgia Laura s experience: My experience at HA&W far exceeded my expectations. All of the staff I worked with took the time to not just teach me how to complete tasks, but explain why I was performing each task as it related to the big picture. Everyone genuinely wanted me to succeed, and I was given all of the tools to do so. HA&W sets itself apart by maintaining a family-like atmosphere, while offering all of the benefits of a large firm. During my audit internship, I completed sections of an audit and reconciled the differences between a client s accounts receivable subsidiary ledger and confirmations of the outstanding balance received from customers. This experience has been invaluable. Samantha s experience: Through my experience at HA&W, I ve gained an invaluable amount of knowledge not just on the technical side, but in communication and building relationships with clients and co-workers. My co-workers are my family. The work is challenging. During my internship, I assisted with tax planning and preparation in several areas, including: high-net-worth individuals, small businesses, trusts and estates, bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes and tax notice resolutions.
