6 THE MILESTONES 2004: Academy was created by ESF-project 2005: first athletes were selected 2007: ESF-project ended and Academy became a permanent training and education system by the contract of educational institutions 2008: Lapland Sports Academy received the title of National Top Sport Academy that was granted by Finnish Olympic Committee : Academy profiled more in winter sports

8 SERVICES OF STUDYING Multifaceted opportunities to study Academy`s contact persons in schools counsel and help athletes to combine studying and training Athletes can perform studying in alternative and flexible ways Ounasvaara Senior high school specialized in sports, Lapland Vocational College and SantaSport Institute : 20 courses by training Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences: 15 credits (ECTS) by training and making plans to combine studying and sport

11 TRAINING CONDITIONS Santasport Institute and city of Rovaniemi are offering unique training conditions for athletes especially in winter sports Distances between training places and educational institutions are short Ounasvaara is the center of action

12 APPLICATION In spring application to Ounasvaara Senior high school specialized in sports, Lapland Vocational College and Education Centre of Santa Claus Sports Institute Selection is based on success of sport and studies and entrance examination In autumn application to University of Lapland and Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences Selection is based on success of sport Before selection athletes have to ensure their student place
