3 Centre for International Mobility CIMO is an organisation supporting international mobility and cooperation, providing expertise and services to clients at home and abroad works within basic education, vocational and adult education, higher education, the youth and cultural field, as well as marketing and information services is an independent Agency under the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, established in 1991 promotes educational programmes funded by the EU, the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Finnish Ministry of Education and Ministry for Foreign Affairs

4 Facilitating cooperation and quality in joint degree programmes Joint degree programmes form an important part of the international activities of the Finnish higher education institutions Ministry of Education and Culture issued a recommendation on development of international joint and double degrees in 2004 FNBE in co-operation with the Ministry, higher education institutions and CIMO prepared a memo on design and implementation of joint and double degrees in 2005 Preparatory work was carried out with due consideration of international reports and recommendations Higher education institutions have prepared further institutionspecific guidelines with respect to their own policies

5 National memo on design and implementation of joint/double degrees (1/3) The memo lists aspects that Finnish higher education institutions designing joint degree programmes are recommended to take into account As applicable, the instructions can be used also within the international consortium as a means for cooperation and better understanding of the national starting points Third revision of the memo available in Finnish, Swedish and English was prepared in 2011
