2 Course Description This training course (TC) is dedicated to the promotion of Gender Equality and advocating for human and gender rights. The project will gather young people from several Western and Eastern European countries: Norway, Austria, Poland, the Russian Federation, Georgia, and Armenia. The purposes of TC is to raise awareness among the participants on the issue of gender balance, to reduce the gap between women's and men's access to and control of resources and other benefits from development, as well as supporting women so that they can fully exercise their rights and to share in equal participation with men in decision making. The TC emphasis is placed on fostering a constructive debate on recent experiences in Europe on how different countries are dealing with these issues; identifying the main problems and what should be done to solve them. Moreover, the TC will highlight, with the help of invited experts, bring success-stories on non-violent actions that hopefully will motivate participants to become active. The trainers and invited experts will share practical and theoretical knowledge on the topics, through plenary sessions, discussions, workshops, creativity sessions, intercultural & interactive exercises and other non-formal educational methods. Essential throughout the TC is the input and experience sharing by the participants. The training course will take place in Bakuriani, Georgia, and will last for 7 days. The following objectives have been set in order to implement a successful training course and to target the above stated problems: Deepen participants understanding of key concepts of gender equality and active citizenship Familiarize the participants with concepts and approaches of non-violent actions, e.g. how to best make use of them and adapt them to local contexts and situations in order to promote youth participation Motivate participants to become advocates for equal gender rights Review and enhance participants competences (knowledge, skills, attitudes) in working as trainers, multipliers, and activists on gender using non formal education tools Enable participants to develop activities and programmes for training multipliers afterwards in the field of equality and of active citizenship at international, national as well as local levels Dates : Arrival: 26 th November 2012 before 13p.m. Departure: 2 nd December 2012 early morning Hotel: Hotel link will be sent 15 days to the TC start

3 The Venue Information about Georgia: Accommodation includes shared double/triple rooms, on full board, coffee breaks and the use of conference facilities. Participants will be sharing a double or triple room with one or two people of the same sex. Each room has one bathroom; towels and bed linen are provided. Traveling To Georgia The cheapest flight connections to Tbilisi are via Riga (Air Baltic), Istanbul (Turkish Airlines), Kiev (Georgian and Ukrainian airlines) or Prague (Czech Airlines). You can also find connect ions through Munich or Frankfurt (Lufthansa) and Vienna (Georgian AIRZENA). To Batumi you can fly through BELAVIA, Turkish Airlines and Ukrainian AEROSVIT. The most convinient will be if you fly diurectly to Tbilisi, as from Tbilisi to Bakuriani, distance is 100 KM.. Note 1: Although participants can plan their travel individually and arrive earlier/depart 2-3 days later, the organisers can only commit to reimburse and organise board and lodging during the mentioned training days Note 2: Organizers will not provide any accommodation for additional staying in Georgia. If you plan to arrive a few days earlier or depart a few days later you are kindly requested to inform us and we will be glad to assist you with booking a hotel.

4 TRANSPORT TO THE VENUE AND FROM THE VENUE: Upon arrival, you will be picked up at the airport, train or bus station by one of our volunteers. They will be holding papers with the title of the project, BAKURIANI TRAINING. Moreover, you will be provided with our addresses, phone numbers etc. before traveling. Upon your departure, we will provide you with transportation to the airport, train or bus station. TRAVEL COSTS 70% of participants travel costs from your home city to Bakuriani, Georgia will be reimbursed. According to the rules of YiA program, and in order to comply with environmental standards, we kindly ask all participants to take the most environmentally friendly and cost effective alternative available. We will also cover the costs of transportation related to the training, such as the sightseeing tour once in Georgia. Note 1: Reimbursement of travel costs will only be done upon presentation of all (including return tickets) original tickets, receipt/invoices and boarding passes. This means that once home after the training, participants will be asked to send the originals of all return documents and boarding passes. Please remember to bring the original invoices there will be no reimbursement without the original invoices and tickets with Names of travellers, description of the journey, indification of cost and currency as well as date of travel. Note 2: If participants pay for their ticket with a credit card, they are requested to bring along the confirmation of payment (i.e. credit card slip and/or bank statement). Note 3: Reimbursement will be done in EURO, regardless of the currency indicated on the ticket and receipt/invoice. Any tickets purchased in a currency other than EURO, will then be converted and calculated according to the exchange rate of the month when the grant agreement for this project will be signed by the NA, as stated in the official European Commission web-site at Note 4: The minibuses from Tbilisi to Bakuriani and back will be provided by the organisers. Participants will be asked to pay 30% of the travel cost Tbilisi- Bakuriani-Tbilisi. The trip will not cost more than 15 EUR/person (return). Note 5: Please check Annex 1 for the travel budget limits (at the end of this document). If travel costs exceed the amount budgeted in the project, the organisers will only be able to reimburse participants 70% of the maximum travel costs indicated in the travel budget. Participants are therefore strongly advised to book trip travel well in advance. Note 6: Finally, please make copies (or even better, scan or take photographs) of all tickets and invoices and these to ketikalandadze@yahoo.com before attending the training. This will be very helpful to the organisers as they begin processing the financial and reimbursement data so that all payments may be made as efficiently as possible.

5 The following only applies to participants travelling by air: Please RESERVE the tickets, but DO NOT BUY them before consulting with the organisers. If more than 10 people choose to do so, we can arrange a group ticket with a better fare (in all cases, participants still need to keep and submit the boarding passes from the airport's check-in). All participants are strongly advised to purchase private travel insurance, as costs of private health care in Georgia are quite high Weather The weather in Georgia in November is generally rainy and cold, especially in the mountain region. You may expect temperatures of around 5-7 degrees, and sometimes the temperature can go even to minus. Bring warm clothes and light clothes as well. Preparation If a participant represents an organisation, kindly bring information and materials about the organisation, i.e. photos and reports from former projects and further material, which will help to present the organisation to the other participants. Furthermore, we kindly ask all participants to bring some national drink, snacks and music from their home countries, as a contribution to the intercultural evenings! PRACTICALITIES Please note that internet access at the hotel is limited; wireless access will be available only in the hall and in a couple of seminar rooms.

6 In Bakuriani there are internet cafés and business rooms in some other hotels, but besince you all are requested to fully participate in the programme, internet access during the training course will be rather limited. Euro and US Dollars can be easily exchanged across Georgia. ATMs (cash machines) are very popular in Bakuriani. Cash is the preferred payment alternative; the ATMs are available in the vacinity of the hotel. The type of electric plugs used in Georgia is European. Project Team Jorgen Johansen John Y.
