6 Here s what our students said DofE has been great and has allowed me to see that I can succeed in a range of tough situations. I have gained so much from doing DofE, from confidence and self belief to simply new skills being learnt, in my case first aid. The expedition was the best thing I have done at Bohunt I have realsed that I can actually do things by myself and I'm not a kid who needs supervision and someone else to organise things for them.

7 Where will the Adventure take you?

8 The sections Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community. Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities. Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests. Expedition: planning, training for and completion of an adventurous journey in the UK or abroad Video Clip

9 It is hard work Volunteering: 3 months Physical: 3 months Skills: 3 months All participants must undertake a further three months in the Volunteering, Physical or Skills section.

12 edofe Log-in as soon as you get your record book. Check your school for username, and password. Fill in all sections of planner, with details of activities. Make sure that you have an Assessor for each section. After required time period, submit your award, with evidence and Assessors report.

13 Timescales for qualifying expeditions (Walking) Level Duration Minimum hours of planned activity each day Bronze 2 days and 1 night At least 6 hours during the daytime (at least 3 of which must be spent journeying) A schedule of after school training sessions between December 2015 and April Own time for route planning. (Maps/ route cards submitted 8 weeks before Expeditions) Focus Day Training in April 2016 Practice Expeditions in June and Final Expeditions in September

15 Managing the Expeditions Three levels of risk assessment: Generic (use of stoves, navigation, first aid) Classroom sessions Focud Day Training Medical forms Site specific (road crossings, rivers, army ranges) Route cards Checkpoints Ongoing (serious injuries, weather) Trained leaders Emergency line First Aid training

16 Help with Expeditions Teams of 4-7 Every Team must have an Adult Leader Could you be a leader? Evening training course on DofE /CRB Check/Child Protection Navigation Training on the South Downs - OPTIONAL Weekend expedition training course in the Peak District Train the Trainer ONLY if in the classroom And then whatever time you can give. Help with after school training and Expeditions.
