8 Benjamin Ball and Gaston Nogues Artists Bios Education Ball - Nogues Studio Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) Experience Gehry Partners Set and production designer for films, music videos, and commercials. Product design and production, assistant curator for a fine arts publishing house. Awards AIA Design Awards Museum of Modern Art s P.S. 1 s Young Architect s Program competition in 2007.

9 Mark Bradford Artist s Bio Born and raised in South Los Angeles Education MFA California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) Exhibitions Sao Paulo Biennial, Whitney Biennial, Liverpool Biennial Survey of his works have been featured at the Wexner Center in Columbus, OH; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Dallas Museum of Art; and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and the Centro Cultural de Tijuana. Awards MacArthur Fellowship, aka Genius Grant Bucksbaum Award

10 Pae White Artist s Bio Born in Pasadena & resides in Northeast Los Angeles Education MFA Art Center College of Design, Pasadena Also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. Exhibitions Her works have been shown throughout the world, including two Biennales (Venice and the Whitney); and in exhibitions in Cologne, Germany; Milan, Italy; New Zealand; Vancouver; and London. Publications Articles on her work have appeared in Frieze, Contemporary, Art Monthly and Art Forum, among others.

12 Ball-Nogues Studio (Benjamin Ball & Gaston Nogues) Air Garden Air Garden embodies the qualities of light and space that are unique to Los Angeles.

13 The artwork will not obstruct the viewer s perspective through the light well nor into the surrounding spaces that showcase the human activities of the airport.

14 Air Garden MEDIUM: Stainless steel or aluminum ball chain, cable rope, powder coated finish DIMENSIONS: Variable LOCATION: North Light Well ARTIST STATEMENT: The artwork is a serene moment amidst the hectic action and movement within the space of the airport. Air Garden is a pause within this movement; a place for reflection and repose, an opportunity for the traveler to daydream. Its components are made of gestural volumes of color hovering within an immense array of catenaries.

16 JumboTron MEDIUM: Wood veneer with composite light density core, aluminum or steel DIMENSIONS: 34 feet wide by 28 feet high LOCATION: Existing TBIT Departures Hall, Mezzanine Level (future consolidated security checkpoint) ARTIST STATEMENT: JumboTron is a sculpture for LAX that references both the systems that organize public spaces and the people that move through them. Conceptually, the work points to time, tabulation and mark-making.
