1 STUDIO Information Architecture New Logo STUDIO Web Development + Design INFORION ARCHITECTURE NAVIGATION SYSTEM We hope to create a user experience that feels intuitive and exciting. Using a bit of wit and visual pun we ll endeavor to make the site both professional and lighthearted. We d like to address the end-user in a welcoming and free spirited creative space that also projects a clear easy to navigate structure and is imbued with a sense of community. New Logo The new logo seems to inhabit a timeless space. It has the feel of vintage television, in its black and white rendering. The logo occupies a d conceptual space that implies the meeting of art and technology and the semiosphere the latter inhabbits for this trade. STRUCTRUE: The structuring of the new site includes a repurposing of the density of content on the core, global navigation pages and rethinking the navigation and design ethos of the site. Consolidating information will eliminate redundancy, for example, we will collect the bios from pages to one. CONSOLIDATION: A single bio page seems best practice for disseminating the flow of con tent on our site; one group of ideas (one concept, on one page) for instruction will facilitate easier navigation between personalities. A restructuring of course listings by a conditional cluster/filtration process might help prospective students find the content they are looking for by query. The option to choose content in the program through a filter that arranges information by course, accreditation (certificates), or instructor will allow students to stay in one area while exploring the program through different modalities. The portfolio, showcase and alumni pages are going to be combined as one idea and housed on one global nav. page. The page will be called student work. NAMING CONVENTIONS: Looking at the site from the perspective of first time visitors and then as matriculated students finding their way in the program, we thought about where it seemed most useful and intuitive to find information about the campus, classes, curriculum and instruction, and which aspects of the content naturally, or sequentially correlated with one another. We compared navigational naming conventions form City College, Parsons, RISDI and CAL ARTS, among others. Universal OBJECTIVES: We would like to address the need for a constructed design hierarchy and implement a more contempo rary approach to disseminating the class content. We hope to create a system that can be approached with three different queries, one that allows the con tent on the current courses page to be reorganized by choosing a search modality; by course, credential (i.e. certificate, certificate of proficiency and AA de gree) or by instruction. This will allow the user to toggle between ideas without leaving the page. The content will reorganize itself by query or user prompt. Portfolios showcase and alumni might also share a common area. A showcase that can be easily updat ed seems like a helpful idea. The home page will clearly map how to use the system and give a short accolade to the program. Aditional content about the program and school might be found on the about page.

In addition to acquiring the skills provided by completing the Graphic Design Certificate of Achievement, you will also complete courses that will expand and enrich your learning experience, and by extension, your employment opportunites, and your life. Please refer to the official College Catalog for the complete requirements. However, within the General Education Requirements, you have many options. Some courses provide more relevant experiences that will help you to maximize your skills in the challenging field of Graphic Design. Please refer to the General Education Courses listed below for a suggested list. Remember though, that these are just suggestions; you can always choose other courses from the catalog. However, before you begin your course of study, you will need to meet with one of the MiraCosta career counselors, and also discuss your plans with one of the faculty. Our job is to help you succeed.
