2 Sports School *NUT FREE CAMP* 9 Sessions of Sports School Ages: 6-13 Time: 8:45-4:00 Cost: $175 wk/$165 for 2nd week Brock Sports School is designed to provide fun, age appropriate activities that promote sportsmanship, fair play and skill development. Our athletes have opportunities to play, make friends, participate and master skills. We aim for our athletes to gain exposure to a variety of new and familiar sports, develop skills and have fun in a safe environment. Our staff of Brock students instructors are dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced. They are highly trained, have completed background checks and are all First Aid/CPR certified. Our program is designed for both male and female athletes aged Athletes are placed in co-ed groups dependent on age similarities. Our ratio of instructors to campers is 1:8. Requests for groupings may be made at registration, but are not guaranteed. provided for Sports School athletes only. Please note that in sessions 8 & 9, we may swim off campus as our pool undergoes scheduled maintenance. Before and after care is available each week at the flat rate of $40/ child per week. This portion of the program is supervised with minimal programming. Children participate in low energy games, activities or have unstructured play time. Athletes will receive one free camp t-shirt the first time they attend Sports School which is to be worn everyday during camp. Extra t-shirts may be purchased for $10. Athletes will have the opportunity to experience at least 10 different sports/activities throughout the week. Possible activities include: archery, baseball, basketball, cricket, fencing, field games, flag football and rugby, floor-hockey, golf, kinball, lacrosse, racquet sports, rowing, soccer, swimming, tchoukball, track and field, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, wallyball, outdoor water games and many other different types of games. Sports School will swim in the afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please send athletes with their swimsuit and a plastic bag each day. Towels will be

3 Sports School Canoe & Kayak Camp Session 4 & 6 of Sports School ONLY Price: $280 This year we are offering Sports School Campers who are 8-13 years old an exciting opportunity to try canoeing and kayaking for the afternoon during Sessions 4 and 6. Campers would participate in Sports School for their morning sessions and then be transported to the South Niagara Canoe Club for an afternoon of canoeing and kayaking. Campers would be transported back to Brock for pick-up. There will be limited spaces for this opportunity. have free range of the pool or be required to stay in the shallow end. The certified lifeguards administer all swim testing and make all decisions regarding swim tests. Please remind your children to leave their swim wrist band on all week, we all get more time in the water when we don t have to re-band athletes. Refund Policy Cancellations made five full business days or more in advance will be charged a $15 cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than five full business days in advance will incur a $45 cancellation fee which will be deducted from the refund. There are no discounts for days not attended and NO REFUNDS will be issued once the camp has begun without a doctor s note. Refunds are issued via credit card (within 2-3 days) or cheque (within 2-3 weeks). We reserve the right to cancel a program if there is insufficient registration. Full Payment is required at the time of registration Registration Deadlines The deadline for registering will be 12:00 noon the Thursday of the week before the camp is scheduled to begin. Please note that many camps sell out and registration then closes earlier. To ensure safety and our advertised ratios there will be limits placed on the number of campers per camp each week, so register early to guarantee your spot! SWIMMING Recreational swims take place in our Olympic sized swimming pool. The pool is divided into four sections for camp swims. We have a shallow end with a hydraulic floor, medium depth swim section, deep end section and the deep end section for the diving boards, Tarzan ropes and the legendary Brock Tower. Please ensure that your child brings a swimsuit, towel and any other items they need to feel comfortable in the water. Instructors will be in the water with campers and qualified lifeguards always supervise the pool. Athletes who are aged 6-9 must complete a swim test before swimming on his/her own. Depending on their ability they may Children s Fitness Tax Credit All of our five-day camp programs qualify for the Children s Fitness Tax Credit. All children aged 16 and under are eligible for up to an annual Children s Fitness Tax Credit of $1000 for participation in eligible programs. An eligible program is defined as: an ongoing, supervised program in which substantially all of the activities undertaken include a significant amount of physical activity that contribute to cardio-respiratory endurance, plus one or more of muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and/or balance. 4 BEGINNER Fencing Camp July 4-8 Cost: $125 JULY Cost: $125 This camp provides a unique experience for new and returning fencers. It is designed to teach fencing skills through fun games and fencing specific activities. Campers will learn the basic fencing fundamentals of movements, techniques and rules. Through practicing and competing in a fun and safe environment campers will develop their skills. These fundamentals will be taught through lessons designed to meet all abilities and ensure camper success. Age appropriate equipment will be provided. Ages: 7 10 (9:00 am-12:00 pm) Ages (1:00 pm-4:00 pm) (ages 7-10 only) 9:00am - 12:00 pm) Intermediate Fencing Camp July Ages: (1:00-4:00) Cost: $125 This afternoon camp is designed for students who have previously participated in a beginner fencing program or camp and are looking to learn more or improve their skill. Campers will focus more intensely on advanced defensive techniques, reaction speed improvement, whole-body fitness, and combat psychology improvements such as developing self-confidence under pressure. When possible, campers will be grouped by age and experience. Equipment will be provided. Nationally certified varsity head coaches Tim Stang and Kristine Richardson bring their combined 25 years of experience and expertise to this program. Members of the Brock Varsity team will assist as well. For both the Beginner and Intermediate programs campers should come ready to move in non-marking shoes and track pants (no shorts), and bring a water bottle and snack. Golf Camp Dates: July 4-8 Ages: 7-13 JulY :00 AM - 4:00 PM August GREENS AT BROCK Cost: $ merrittville HWY This camp is designed for the dedicated golfer looking to take their game to the next level as well as those just learning to play. It is designed to teach the basic fundamental skills of golf with the goal of building confidence, lowering scores and celebrating success. Choose from three session options! Activities, drills and modified games will all be used to develop and teach skills. Campers will take part in both team and individual contests throughout the week. All campers will spend an equal amount of time on the practice grounds and the golf course; giving them a chance to lower their scores. Varsity Coach Tara Savoie along with members of the Brock Badgers Men s and Women s golf teams instruct this camp. Instructor to camper ratio is approximately 1:8. Each camper will receive a camp golf hat to be worn each day. A Camper of the Week will be awarded and the recipient will receive a free week of golf camp in Campers will need to bring their own golf clubs to camp. This camp takes place outdoors, so campers should bring sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing for all summer weather conditions. Lunch will be provided for campers on the Friday of each session. 5 Volleyball CAMP July Ages: 8-17 Cost: $190 9:00am-4:00pm Our volleyball camp is designed to teach the basic fundamental skills of volleyball including serving, bumping, volleying, passing, blocking and spiking. The goal of this camp is to develop skills, build confidence, learn about teamwork and celebrate success. Activities, drills and modified games will all be used to develop and teach skills. Campers will also take part in individual skills contests and tournaments. Varsity Women s Head Coach, Dale Melnick and Men s Head Coach Doug Hanes along with members of the Brock Badgers Volleyball teams instruct this camp. Instructor to camper ratio is approximately 1:8. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and volleyball to bring with them each day. Athletes will swim each afternoon in our Olympic sized pool. Please come prepared with a swimsuit, towel, brush and bag. Before and after care is available from 8:00am-9:00am and High Performance Volleyball July Ages: Cost: $ 355 Overnight / $ 230 Day EARLY BIRD PRICE $330 (until May 15) This 3 -day High Performance Camp is designed for individuals (male and female) who want to further develop and strengthen all the fundamental skills of the game which include setting, passing, hitting, blocking, defense and serving in order to prepare for either Provincial or National Team play or high level competitive high school play. In addition, tactical strategies and team concepts will be learned in both classroom setting and through competitive play. Athletes will also participate in strength and conditioning, nutrition, sport performance, injury prevention and other important items to become a national level player. This camp offers the option of the university experience of staying overnight in residence on campus or joining the camp for the day programming. Day program times are: July 22 6:00-9:00pm, July 23 9:00am- 9:00pm, July 24 9:00-3:00pm. Nutritious meals and snacks will be served to all overnight campers. Lunch option is available to Day Campers for Saturday and Sunday for $24.78, this option must be purchased at time of registration. Campers will receive a souvenir t-shirt. Camp Director is Dale Melnick, coaching staff for this camp will include coaches from the OCAA, NCAA and members of the Canadian National team present. Dale Melnick, Camp Director dmelnick@brocku.ca Intermediate Cheer July Ages: 9-14 Cost: $225 9:00am-4:00pm *Occurs off campus Our Intermediate Cheer Camp is designed for athletes who are 9-14 years old and have either attended Brock s Cheer Camp in the past or have previous experience with cheerleading or gymnastics. This camp will take place off campus at the Tigers Athletics facility located at 94 Dunkirk Rd in St. Catharines. Registration in this camp also includes one month of free tumbling at Tigers Athletics valued at $50 (certificates awarded at the end of camp). Skills learned in this camp will be Level 2 including handsprings, tumbling and progressing towards Level 3 with tucks for tumbling. Afternoons will include a break outdoors in a nearby park with activities, games or crafts. On Friday there will be a pizza lunch provided for all athletes. Friday afternoon will also include a short demonstration for parents to showcase the skills learned. *Due to space limitations we ask that each camper have no more than two supporters attend. 6 Cheerleading Camp Dates: August Ages: 5-13 Cost: $190 9:00am 4:00pm Badgers Boys High Performance Hoops SESSION 1: July Ages: 9-18 SESSION 2: AUG 2-5 ($185) 9:00am -4:00pm Cost: $225 FOR SESSION 1 / $185 FOR SESSION 2 This camp is designed for the dedicated and serious basketball enthusiast looking to take their game and conditioning to the next level. Campers will learn skills, strategies, plays and receive an introduction to strength and conditioning, nutrition, and importance of and use of film. Instructors for this camp come from the Brock Badgers Basketball team along with local basketball coaches. Cheerleading camp is a growing success at Brock University; no previous experience is necessary to attend this camp. Campers will be evaluated during the first half of the day on Monday and then placed into groups according to their skill level and age (according to US All Star Federation Guidelines). Our Cheerleading camp is designed to teach the fundamental skills of cheerleading including stunts, pyramids, dance, tumbling, jumps and of course cheers! The goal of this camp is to build confidence, learn teamwork, build trust, develop skills and celebrate success. Campers will have fun in this unique program making new friends and learning cheer routines. Returning this year will be a daily craft/fun activity. On Friday afternoon the campers will perform their routines for their family and friends. Brock Badger Cheerleaders instruct this camp along with their Coaching staff and the instructor to camper ratio is approximately 1:8. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and cheer bow to wear each day. A Camper of the Week will be awarded and will receive a free week to camp the following year. Cheer camp will swim Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please send your child with a towel, swimsuit, brush and a plastic bag. Before and after care is available from 8:00am-9:00am and Tara Savoie, Camp Director brockcheerleading@hotmail.com Camp Director is Varsity Coach Charles Kissi who has been personally mentored by Toronto Raptors Head Coach Dwane Casey. With a low instructor to camper ratio of approximately 1:8, campers receive lots of on court training and playing time. All campers will receive a basketball and a basketball jersey to bring with them to camp each day. Campers will be divided into groups determined by age and ability; they will compete against players of the same age and ability in organized games. Throughout the week individual contests will be held in free throw, hot-shot and bump. The final day of camp is reserved for final games and awards. Awards are presented at the end of the week to the individual contest winners, All Stars and the winning team. Each year a camper is awarded the Camper of the Week Award and will receive a free week to camp the following year. Camp-wide swimming takes place in the afternoon each day. Please send campers with swimsuits, towels and a plastic bag. 7 Girls Basketball Camp SESSION 1: August 2-5 Ages: 8-16 SESSION 2: August :00am 4:00pm Cost: $165 FOR SESSION 1 / $200 FOR SESSION 2 Our girls basketball camp focuses on having fun while learning the fundamentals of basketball. We enjoy a high rate of camper return from year to year; our girls finish camp with great memories and new friends. Throughout the week campers will progress through various stations to enhance their basketball skills on both an individual and a team level. Our camp atmosphere is a fun and safe place to learn. Our final day of camp is reserved for parents to come out and watch games and contests and cheer their athlete on. Instructors for this camp hail from the Brock Badgers team, varsity coaching staff, and local community coaches. Instructor to camper ratio is approximately 1:9. Included in the camp fee are a basketball, reversible basketball jersey and swimming. Swimming will occur Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please come prepared with a swimsuit, towel, brush and plastic bag. Before and after care are available from 8:00am-9:00am and Si Khounviseth, Camp Director skhounviseth@brocku.ca ext Boys & Girls Soccer Camp Date: August 8-12 Ages: 7-15 Cost: $190 9:00am 4:00pm Brock s soccer camp is designed with a focus on skill development in a fun and safe environment. Campers are placed in groups determined by their age/ability. This camp features highly qualified and experienced varsity coach leadership and a low instructor to camper ratio of approximately 1:8. Members of the Badgers varsity teams will be present to share their skills as well. Soccer camp takes place on the varsity soccer fields adjacent to the Walker Complex on the west end of campus. This camp is designed to occur outdoors, however during inclement weather may move inside the Walker Complex. Skill development in this camp will focus on dribbling, passing, defending, shooting, finishing and teamwork. Included in camp tuition are a uniform t-shirt and a soccer ball, which campers should bring to camp everyday. Campers require cleats and shin pads. Camp directors are the Varsity Head Coaches of the Brock Women s and Men s varsity teams Charles Ivanov and Lucio Ianiero and Assistant Coach Aldo Seca. Before and after care are available from 8:00am-9:00am and Athletes will swim each afternoon in our Olympic sized pool. Please come prepared with a swimsuit, towel and plastic bag. Contact badgercamps@brocku.ca for more information BOYS & GIRLS RUGBY CAMP Date: JULY Ages: 6 12 Cost: $200 9:00am 4:00pm Our Rugby Camp is designed to introduce 6-12 year olds to the game of rugby in a safe and fun environment. Camps will be small in size to ensure the best learning opportunities. This camp features highly qualified and experienced varsity coach leadership and a low instructor to camper ratio of approximately 1:6. Members of the Badgers varsity teams will be present to share their skills as well. Rugby camp takes place outdoors on the varsity field adjacent to the Walker Complex on the west end of campus. This camp is designed to occur outdoors, however during inclement weather may move inside the Walker Complex. Skill development in this camp will focus on passing, defending and teamwork. Included in camp tuition are a uniform t-shirt and a rugby ball, which campers should bring to camp everyday. Campers are required to wear cleats and bring clean running shoes in case camp moves indoors. Before and after care are available from 8:00am-9:00am and Athletes will swim each afternoon in our Olympic sized pool. Please come prepared with a swimsuit, towel and plastic bag.

8 Junior Lifeguard Club Camp July 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29, 8:30am-4:30pm Ages: 8-15 August 2-5 (4 day week, $140) COST: $175 In this introduction to the world of lifesaving and lifeguard competitions, participants will learn what actual lifeguards do in real situations and some competition techniques. The Club also prepares members to be future members of our Lifeguard Team. Ratio of certified instructors to campers is approximately 1:12. Synchronized Swimming Camp July 4-8, ages: 6-12 COST: $175 8:30am-4:30pm Through this creative outlet, your child will combine music, dance and swimming to enhance their flexibility, endurance, and overall comfort in the water. Swimmers must be 6-12 years old, comfortable in deep water, able to submerge while holding their breath and tread water for 20 seconds Sport Fundamentals July & August 8-12 Ages: 8-15 COST: $175 8:30am-4:30pm Improve your strokes with 25 m swims of front crawl, back crawl and whip kick. With 100 m workouts and 25 m sprints, fitness levels should increase. Touch and go turns will also be introduced. Hitting a target with a rope, movement with flippers, swimming underneath an obstacle, securing a rescue tube to a manikin and treading water while supporting an object, are some of the sport skills to be enjoyed. Participants should be comfortable in the deep end, able to swim 25 meters and tread water for 45 seconds. Prerequisite: Swimmer 3 Springboard Diving Camp July Ages: 6-12 COST: $175 8:30am-4:30pm Learn the latest in diving techniques in a relaxing, fun-filled setting that concentrates on technical improvement in 1- and 3-meter springboard diving.
