Setting Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode to Work With WebLink+

1 Fixing site display problems with IE Compatibility View WebLink+ (core 2) will only display correctly in the current 2 versions of Internet Explorer. That includes IE 11 (Edge) and IE 10. You may have mixed results in IE 9 and it will not work in IE 8 and below which is not supported due to browser security vulnerabilities. In versions 11 9 however, Internet Explorer can be set to emulate many older versions of the product. In order to ensure your IE browser is set to the highest version possible, please follow the enclosed instructions. Important Note: The screens used in this document may look different depending on what version you are using. The version shown in each step will be indicated. Most are similar in function but may have different controls. IE 10 & 11 Browsers Start by opening your browser and then either pressing the F12 key or clicking on the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and selecting the Developer Tools option on the drop-down menu (see below) The Developer Tools window will open in one of 2 forms: In the bottom half of your current browser (see next page 1 st screen) In a separate window by itself ( see next page 2 nd screen)

3 Note, depending on browser user settings you may only see a text menu as shown below and not the icons as described: The following steps will show how to set the version using the icons. The steps for a text menu will follow. If you get the icon tools screen you may need to click on the down arrow (shown below) to scroll the toolbar. Scroll down until you see what looks like a small monitor. Click on it. You should get the following screen.

4 See larger outtake below. Click on the dropdown menu for the User agent string. You will see a list of different versions of IE that you can emulate (Note: IE 11 may show up with the label Edge, not seen here).

5 Select the version of IE that you want your browser to run as. Important: Since WebLink+ Core 2 is only guaranteed to work for the most recent 2 versions, you would need to select IE 11 (Edge) or IE 10. If you want to save the emulation mode settings as your browser default, click the icon shown below that says Persist Emulation settings disabled when you hover over it. Once done when you hover over it it should say Persist Emulation settings enabled. Note: in some newer versions of browser, IE 11 (Edge) you will need to set BOTH the User agent string and the Document Mode to the proper version if you have both dropdowns (see below). 6 As soon as you select the version, your main window will refresh itself and will now show you the web page as it was designed. Above screen set to IE 11 (Edge), below set to IE 10.

7 Again, if you want to save the emulation mode settings as your browser default, click the icon that says Persist Emulation settings disabled when you hover over it so it says Persist Emulation settings enabled when you hover over it. IE 9 Browsers If you are using IE 9 your options will be much simpler. Click the Browser Mode menu and select the highest option (that is not a compatibility view). See below: Now click the Document Mode and select the highest option. See below: Remember, in this version some pages may not respond as intended. Fixing other site display problems with IE Compatibility View Sometimes websites don't look like you expect them to images might not appear, menus might be out of place, and text could be jumbled together. This might be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on. Sometimes this can be fixed by adding the site to your Compatibility View list.

8 To add a site to the Compatibility View list 1. Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar. 2. Tap or click the Tools button, and then tap or click Compatibility View settings. 3. Under Add this website, enter the URL of the site you want to add to the list, and then tap or click Add. a) Be sure to check the Use Microsoft compatibility lists checkbox! b) If you have Intranet sites that use an older version of IE, you might also try clicking the Display intranet sites in Compatibility view checkbox. Note If you add a site to the Compatibility View list and the page looks worse, the problem might not be compatibility and you should remove the site from the list. Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing it from your compatibility list.
