1 Manual "Mobile Printing via Xerox App" Conditions - The app needs ios 7.0 or newer. - The app needs Android version 4 or higher. - Xerox does not support the Xerox Print Portal App for Windows Devices (Windows Phone/MS Surface tablet and Windows 10). - Staff members and students with ending can use this App. 2. Installation The name and accessibility of menus can differ by mobile OS. The steps to follow can differ as well. IMPORTANT: By installing the Xerox app, your solis-id and solis-password are saved on your device. If it's stolen, your solis-password and other saved accounts and data may be misused. We do advise you to secure your mobile device with a password or a PIN code. You can install the Xerox Mobile Print Portal App from the app-store or Google Play store of your device. Use the option "Search" to find the app in the store. Before you install the Xerox Print Portal App, you must agree to the terms of use of the Google Play access. After opening the app you must agree to the Xerox conditions of use. Accepting this, you are accepting as well the terms of use of these licenses: PDFJet voor Java license, GPL 2.1, Chilkat Software License, Apache License 2.0 and MIT license. Type your UU address: name@uu.nl or name@students.uu.nl Press Next. 1

2 In the Welcome window User Name: type your solis-id. Password: type your solis password. Press Done. When the installation has finished, search for the icon for the Xerox Mobile Print Portal in your apps-menu. 3. Using the app Use your mobile device to print from different applications to the FollowMe printers at the University Utrecht. 2

3 3.1. Welcome Window "What would you like to do?" This window gives quick access to the most-used functions of this App. Press on an icon to: - print from different applications - select printers - show the status of current tasks - go to the documents list Select printers The FollowMe printers at the UU can be accessed by the name UU_Printer. In the Printers window you see icons for Workplace and Favorites, depending on your device platform. The workplace and favorites show the last printer you used and your favorite printers/locations. Select the printer UU_Printer under Workplace Favorites. Search for the UU_Printer if it's not showing. 3

4 3.3. Printing from the File library Select the library (for example Gallery) in the dialog window. - Choose application. - Select a file from the library. - Select the UU_Printer. Choose your printing preferences for this job. Press on Print Printing via Print to print@uu.nl - - Send a message to print@uu.nl - window Print Job opens. - Select the UU_Printer. Choose your printing preferences for this job. Press on Print Printing webpages Webpages are printed by converting the page to a PDF document which you then upload to the printer. The App supports printing of multiple webpages and adapts the format of the pages for printing. - Go to the Welcome window and press on Webpage. - Type in the browser the URL of the webpage which you want to print. - As soon as the page appears, select the icon Print Printing from a camera - Go to the Welcome window and select Camera. - Take a picture and choose Save. 4

5 2.7. Printing from a Clipboard Follow the next steps to print the contents of a clipboard. The contents will be converted to a PDF document format to be printed. - The content may be a text, some web pages, but other sources as well. - Go to the Welcome windows, press Clipboard Printing from a Documents list In the documents list window follow the next steps. - Select the document to open the Print Job window. - Select the UU_Printer Printing from other applications - Select a mobile application (for example Google Drive, dropbox, etc). - Select a file. - Select Print and use the option Open with Print Portal. The name of this action can differ depending on the OS platform. It can be "Send to", "Share", etc.. 3. FAQ Which document types are supported? The following document types are supported. But it is recommended that you always print a specimen of your document, before you try to print a big job. Microsoft Word-documents (*.doc, *.docm, *.docx) text files (*.rtf, *.tif, *.tiff, *.txt) images (*.gif, *.jpeg, *.jpg) Adobe PDF (*.pdf) Microsoft PowerPoint-presentations (*.ppt, *.pptm, *.pptx) Microsoft Excel-spreadsheets (*.xls, *.xlsm, *.xlsx) messages (*.eml) pictures (*.png) Docuworks (*.xdw) Open Office document types (*ods, *.odp, *.odg *.odf, *.odt) Why is the print preview so slow? The file size and the network speed have an influence on the print preview. If you have a big file, just go directly to the print menu. Which address do I use to print s? You send your to print@uu.nl from your solis address. Can i print a document from Office 365 via my Ipad/Iphone or Android Phone? Via Ipad or Iphone you can share a document and by sending it as an attachment to print@uu.nl, you can print it. Please note that you send it from your solismail account. Via Android device you can share a document and send it as an attachment to the Print Portal App. 5

6 Why is my document not being printed? Check the list with the supported document types. Check the printer settings. You can look at the document history in the menu Details.You can go to Job Status to see the history from the last 7 days. There you can see if the document was sent succesfully to the UU_Printer. I received a validation error when I sent a file to print@uu.nl. Why can't I print? You can print only if your address ends May I upload and print later? Yes, a print job is kept on the server for 72 hours. After that, it will be deleted automatically. Open the file on the Print Portal. In the window Job Task, press on Upload. The file is placed in the Document Queue, until you send it to the UU_Printer. Can I print a file again? Go to the Documents window. Select from the Documents list the file that you want to print again. You can print an uploaded file again. Open the window Details and press on Print. Can I use the options "Secure Print" with the UU_Printer? This option doesn't work with the FollowMe system. Is there a QR-code for the FollowMe printers? No. May I use my mobile device instead of a print card to log in on the printer? No, this is not recommended because of technical issues.
