1 Welcome to our Online Library Collection! Willard Library has joined the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS), a group of Michigan libraries, to provide downloadable ebooks & Audiobooks for our card-holders. We have contracted with the OverDrive digital library service to provide users with an app, a digital library website, and online and offline reading options for over 23,000 ebooks and 13,000 Audiobooks. To download titles, you will need: A valid Willard Library card A home computer, tablet, or smartphone Connection to a Wi-Fi or phone network Free software or app v OverDrive, Inc Page 1

2 Getting Started: Download the App, or find Willard Library & MCLS Website Option 1 Visit overdrive.com or willardlibrary.org to check out books using a web browser. Preferred option for Kindle and Nook Simple Touch users Option 2 Find the App Store on your device and search for Overdrive. 7 Sign in to the Digital Library Select the Sign In link in the upper right corner of your screen. Then, select your library. Begin typing WILLARD. Then touch the listing for Willard Library. Enter your library card number (the number that appears under the barcode on your card) and PIN (the last four digits of the phone number on your library card account). v OverDrive, Inc Page 7

8 Search or Browse the Digital Library Browse ebooks and audiobooks by format and topic. Select Menu at the top of your screen to retrieve the browsing categories. Books with the light gray icon are checked out. Books with a dark colored icon are on the shelf. Or, enter a favorite author or title in the Search box. Search and browsing results can be narrowed to include only books that are currently available by selecting the Available Now category. v OverDrive, Inc Page 8

9 Holds and Wish List If a book is checked out, the green button will read Place a Hold instead of Borrow. To place a hold, enter and confirm your address. You can also choose whether to automatically check out the book when your hold becomes available. Watch your so that you don t miss picking up a hold! Touch the Bookmark icon to add a book to your Wish List. This is a great way to keep track of books you d like to check out at a later time. Any book can be added, whether it is checked in or out. Checkouts, Holds, and Wish List can all be found on your ACCOUNT page. Look for the head and shoulders icon to visit your account page. v OverDrive, Inc Page 9

10 Choose and Check Out All about formats EPUB: Use with Overdrive app or Computer & Adobe Digital Editions/Nook Kindle: Use with Kindle devices or Kindle Reading app MP3 audio: Use with overdrive app, or on the computer. READ: Can be opened and read on any Internet browser. Click the green BORROW button to check out a book. Choose an available format for download: Kindle Book, Adobe EPUB, PDF, etc. Read instantly in your web browser with OverDrive Read! v OverDrive, Inc Page 10

11 Renew The renew option will appear 3 days before a title s expiration date. Click Renew to reserve a copy of the title that can be borrowed again after the first checkout expires. If there are existing holds on the title, the Renew option will be grayed out. A user can place a hold on the title to borrow again when it is available. 13 Download to your device KINDLE format ebooks send user to Amazon.com to complete the checkout and download. EPUB format ebooks and MP3 audiobooks will both download into and open within the Overdrive app. Audiobooks take a bit longer to download. Be sure your Kindle is connected to Wi-Fi! Once you see a Thank You message, your checkout should be on the Kindle device.
