If passengers require assistance to get to the aircraft, their airline should be advised at the time of booking. They can check-in via the traditional counter or a self-check kiosk. Page 2

3 E-TICKETS/ITINERARY VALID PASSPORT VISA (IF REQUIRED) OUTGOING PASSENGER CARD As part of international travel, passengers need to have specific travel documents which include their e-tickets/itinerary, valid passport, visa (if required) and outbound passenger card. Their check-in agent should give them an Outgoing Passenger Card as part of the check-in process. We recommend passengers check with the embassy or consulate for the country they are visiting. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website has information which may be able to assist WEIGHT 14.8kg NAME TAG Depending on the airline, baggage can be checked in via a check-in counter or bag drop. Airlines have baggage allowances which depend on the ticket that has been purchased. Passengers should check with their airline for specific details on these allowances. More details on these processes can be found at PASSPORT COMPLETED OUTGOING PASSENGER CARD BOARDING PASS (IF REQUIRED) Passengers follow the directions to Departures should have their passport, completed outgoing passenger card and boarding pass ready to clear the border processes. 5 To complete these processes, passengers proceed through the border process via a SmartGate or with an Australian Border Force Officer at a traditional counter. SCAN PASSPORT WAIT FOR PHOTO If using the SmartGate, passengers must first scan their passport and then wait for the SmartGate to recognise their facial features. Once verified, the SmartGate will open for the passenger to pass through. 4 SIMPLE 3 4 PASSENGER 2 PREPARING BORDER BEFORE YOU DEPART 3 PASSENGER Government regulation requires that all passengers are screened prior to departing on their flight. 1 Page 5

6 PASSENGER When going through the screening process, passengers must remove certain items to assist. It is a recommendation that items such as mobile phones, wallet and keys are to be placed in hand luggage. This assists with keeping the items together making them easier to collect after screening. Items such as laptops and clear plastic bags, with liquids, aerosols and gels under 100 millilitres are placed in a tray. Page 6

7 Finally, hats, scarves, jackets and some footwear also need to be removed. Note that all prohibited items must be surrendered. They may be selected to undergo a body scan or go through the metal detector. Passengers may also be required to participate in explosive trace detection screening. This government mandated requirement occurs on a random basis. Page 7

They may also use the Sydney Airport app which may also be used to send notification to the passenger in relation to their flight. If time allows, passengers can enjoy what s on offer at the airport while they wait. This can include food and beverage outlets, shopping or the airline lounges (for those that are eligible). Page 8

9 Gate 37 Once the flight is ready for boarding, passengers should be at their gate, they must have their passport and boarding pass ready for presentation to airline representatives at the gate.
