ETS Application FCA/S 1.x.x.2 Unified application for all four devices FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S Start up Behavior and run on behavior Minimum time in a level Limitations of Fan stage in Automatic Mode Forced operation of Fan stage in Automatic and Direct Mode (e.g. Fan only stage 1 or off) All valve outputs either for heating or cooling Mixture of valves (motor- and electrothermal valve drives) Parallel operation of valves Threshold for Switching to another Level, Hysteresis Status Messages (Fan stage, Valve, Fault, ) Monitoring of RTC with parametrisable Function ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 7
ETS Application FCA/S 1.x.x.2 Direct Mode FCA/S Bit for up/down Fan Speed 1 Bit for direct Fan Speed 1 Byte (0 3) for Fan Speed at the moment not available, with application update 2016 FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 8 Automatic Mode Depending on Control Value from Room Temperature Controller Limitations E.g. only Fan Stage 1 and 2 Control value fan speed % 0 (fan off) % % % 3
Run-on Behavior FCA/S FCA/S Keeps the fan running in the actual stage though there is a request for lower speed. Run-on behavior speed 3: stays in speed 3 for the adjusted time before going down to speed 2 Run-on behavior speed 2: stays in speed 2 for the adjusted time before going down to speed 1 Run-on behavior speed 1: stays in speed 1 for the adjusted time before turned off FCA/S FCA/S ABB DESTO Jürgen Schilder 9
Run-on Behavior Run-on behavior speed 1: FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S After normal operation with running heat exchanger an immediate switch off (valve closed, fan off) can result in overheating in the unit. For a fan coil in cooling mode it is essential to keep the fan running to prevent icing or condensation. Run-on times speed 3 and speed 2 to be adjusted to zero or low durations, Run-on time speed 1 will get a significant time period. Activation of the function via telegram: FCA/S CDC N0101
Webinar New Fan Coil Actuators Run-on Behavior Minimum dwell period FCA/S Run-on time works only for fan speed going down, but in all modes Minimum dwell period (minimum time in a level) is made only for automatic mode, but active for any change of speed (up or down) FCA/S Run-on Time Minimum dwell period in fan speed Direct Mode yes no FCA/S Automatic Mode yes yes Man. Operation yes no FCA/S CDC N0101
Limitations and forced operation FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S During operation (direct or automatic) it is sometime essential to influence both the valve and also the fan. It means, valve and/or fan achieve a defined status. Examples: In a hotel room ventilation shall be limited to speed one during the night due to noise reasons In case of malfunction in a HVAC system valve shall go to 50 % position For continuous ventilation with no heating or cooling valve shall be closed and fan runs in speed one FCA/S Limitations (1 Bit) Priority (Forced Operation,1 Bit) Valve Fan Valve Fan Direct Mode - - Max. 3 1 Automatic Mode - Max. 4 Max. 3 1 ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 12

Limitations and forced operation Parameter forced operation for valve. 3 FCA/S FCA/S Group objects limitations and forced operation: FCA/S FCA/S ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 14
Flexibility of Valve Outputs Independent valve outputs, individually programmable FCA/S FCA/S 1.2.x.2 with electronic output FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S CDC N0101
Flexibility of Valve Outputs FCA/S Two motor valve drives, either for Heating and Cooling or additional heating/cooling stage or parallel operation of valves FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S CDC N0101
Flexibility of Valve Outputs FCA/S Four electrothermal valve drives, e.g. two for heating/cooling in the room, the others with additional blower actuator for another room FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S CDC N0101
Parallel Operation of Valves Parallel operation of valves temporarily possible Parallel Mode FCA/S Solution: Adding a further heating or cooling circuit in case of a strong request for cooling or heating 0-10 V valve drives or motor valve drives: both possible valve drives can be linked together FCA/S Electrothermal valve drives: Channel A and C can be linked together FCA/S FCA/S CDC N0101
Parallel Operation of Valves Group Objects: FCA/S Description in the Manual FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S By activating the parallel mode this output is not active immediately, only after change of the control value FCA/S CDC N0101
Overview RTC s unified RTC ComfortTouch 3.1 Millenium RTC RTC commercial Busch-priOn 3.5 All Room Temperature Controllers (RTC s) will have a unified software concept, providing the user with the same function for all devices. Uniform Master Slave concept easy implementation of more than one RTC s in a room Native application for ETS4 and 5 no additional plug in (Power tool) required (ETS3 applications with Power Tool still available) One set point mode easier to program, easier to operate for the user (Alternatively two set point mode with dead zone parametrizable) Busch-priOn RTC 2CDC N0101
Overview RTC s unified RTC Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil All RTC s will have a unified software concept, providing the user with the same function for all devices. Additional stage for heating and cooling with individual parameters as an independent second control circuit (e.g. basic floor heating) more flexibility Adapted usability concept better understanding and operation for the end user Please note: Devices with the new RTC concept will get a new article and order code and they are not compatible with the previous devices. Exception: Busch-priOn 3.5 and ComfortTouch 3.0, these devices can be updated with a new firmware incl. the new RTC 2CDC N0101

Unified RTC Master/Slave Presence Detector Room Temperature Controller - MASTER - Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Room Temperature Controller - SLAVE - Fan Coil Unit Fan Coil Actuator Busch-triton Fan Coil ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 28
Unified RTC Master/Slave Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil Single device Stand alone operation/application in a single room Master device At least two RTCs in use. One defined as Master and the second (and further if required) as an additional operating and display element (Slave). The Master is to be connected according to the designated communication objects with the slave. The Master is responsible for the temperature control. Slave device(s) At least two RTCs in use. One defined as Master and the second as Slave. The Slave is to be connected according to the designated communication objects with the Master. The Slave uses the room temperature controller functions of the master Synchronisation of indication and operation between Master and Slave devices 2CDC N0101
Unified RTC Master/Slave Master Slave Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil Superimposed operating mode (master/slave) for further device (e.g. visualization) to change the operating mode.
Additional Heating/Cooling Stage Presence Detector Sidus An additional stage allows to run a separate heating/cooling circuit Example: Room with cooling ceiling (basic stage) and classical fan coil unit as additional stage Floor heated bathroom (basic stage) with a towel rack as additional stage solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Additional Heating/Cooling Stage Parameter: Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent After selection further parameter appear Busch-triton Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Additional Heating/Cooling Stage Presence Detector Control parameter of the selected type (example Fan Coil) Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Group objects: Busch-triton Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Additional Heating/Cooling Stage Important parameter: Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton The setpoint temperature of the additional stage is defined as the difference to the basic setpoint The value represents the setpoint at which the additional stage starts to operate. For heating the setpoint for the additional stage is higher, for cooling it is lower than the basic setpoint Adjustment of the difference to zero: Two parallel circuits with the same setpoint but different control parameters if required. Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Additional Heating/Cooling Stage Activation/Deactivation basic load via object Presence Detector Sidus Always active with a minimum control value Switchable via object Parameter: solo/future/carat/accent Group objects: Busch-triton Example: Floor heating system with basic warmth Minimum control value is active though the calculated control value of is lower. Fan Coil Deactivation in Summer, cold ground ok 2CDC N0101
Additional Heating/Cooling Stage Presence Detector Example: Cooling setpoint is 22 degrees Celsius, temperature difference to basic stage is two degrees Celsius. If there is a request for getting 20 degrees or less in the room additional stage will start cooling. Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Switching between Heating and Cooling Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil Switching between heating and cooling, either with 2- pipe or 4-pipe systems is important is to run in the correct mode, depending on request (required room temperature compared with actual one) Option RTC: Automatic: Device switches automatically between heating and cooling and to the associated setpoint Only via object: Switchover between heating and cooling and to the associated setpoint is carried out via group object. Local/ via extension unit and via object: Switchover between heating and cooling is carried out manually on the device by the user or via the "Switchover heating/cooling" object via the bus. 2CDC N0101
Switching between Heating and Cooling Parameter RTC: Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Group Objects RTC: Busch-triton Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Switching between Heating and Cooling Option FCA/S: FCA/S In case of automatic mode in RTC the correct control value will be sent to the FCA/S If switch over via object is selected also FCA/S offers parameter and group object FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S CDC N0101
Switching between Heating and Cooling Practice: Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton 2-pipe system with only heating or cooling: no adjustments in RTC or FCA/S 4-pipe system with both heating and cooling: mostly the automatic mode (RTC) and no switching object (FCA/S) can be parametrized. Depending on setpoint and current room temperature the right control value will be transmitted. FCA/S receives only one control value and operates the valve. In case of the necessity to force running mode heating or cooling at a certain time (e.g. via visualization) these group objects and parameters in both devices are really helpful). Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
Switching between Heating and Cooling Practice: Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton In a 2-pipe system with both heating and cooling the switching object can be used to inform the RTC and FCA/S that hot or cold water is in the system and heating or cooling mode is active now. FCA/S parameter Fan coil operating mode has to be adjusted to 2 control values/1 valve/with switching object. Both group objects shown above are connected with the same group address. In a four pipe system with both heating and cooling but never hot and cold water supply in parallel intended switching between heating and cooling can be necessary Fan Coil 2CDC N0101
RTC in Presence Detector Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil Presence Detector includes a complete RTC except operating elements or indications RTC in general areas like restroom or kitchen where no operation and display is needed In a large office room it is recommended to measure at two points to create a mean value or to regulate according to the lowest/highest measured room temperature In principle both measured value can be weighted to create an individual reference temperature value. (E.g. RTC1 30 % and RTC2 70 %) ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 42
RTC in Presence Detector Presence Detector Sidus solo/future/carat/accent Busch-triton Fan Coil For a ceiling mounted fan coil unit it is a good solution to measure the room temperature next to the air inlet of the FCU Advantage is a faster regulation thus also the presence detector can help with temperature measurement Please note: Air draft with temperature differences can results in triggering presence detection when the detector is mounted next to the FCU As the detection of temperature at the ceiling might be incorrect (in heating mode too high) an offset can be parametrized ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 43
Fan Coil Control with Blower Actuator FCL/S x FCL/S FCL/S FCL/S fold Room temperature control with fan coil units means fan speed and valve control. Possible: Room temperature control only via fan speed, any cooling or heating request leads to a completely open valve Simple relay for controlling of electrothermal valves is sufficient, Blower actuator FCL/S x Hint: For PWM control or continous control the dedicated actuator FCA/S is needed! FCL/S fold ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 44
Fan Coil Control with Blower Actuator FCL/S x Example: 4-pipe system Heating and Cooling FCL/S Switching between heating and cooling via RTC automatically Room Temperature Controller, FCL/S and a further Switch Actuator SA/S FCL/S Room Temperature Controller Control value Heating Control value Cooling Status Cooling Status Heating Control Value A Control Value B Toggle Control Value A/B Heating/Cooling Output B: Switch Output X: Switch Status Output X Blower Actuator FCL/S Switch Actuator SA/S 2CDC N0101

Fan Coil Control with electrical Heater FCL/S FCL/S Electrical heater in the Fan Coil Unit can be used in the event of not existing water based heating system or in the period between summer and winter where water supplied heating is not yet available. Switch output is required, output H of FCA/S or output B of FCL/S Status heating operates the relay to switch on/off the electrical heater. Temperature control via fan speed control Room Temperature Controller Control value Heating Status Heating Control Value A Output H: Switch Fan Coil Actuator FCA/S 1.1.x.2 2CDC N0101
Solution with FCA/S and RTC FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S FCA/S Window contact Window contact, connected to binary input of FCA/S Heating Mode: Group address of binary input is linked to the operating mode frost protection Set point of 7 degrees Celsius (adjustable) is valid Cooling Mode: Group address of binary input is linked to the operating mode overheat protection Set point of 35 degrees Celsius (adjustable) is valid Practically in both modes valve will be closed and fan is off ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 50
Solution with FCA/S and RTC FCA/S FCA/S Drip tray or Dew point sensor connected to binary input of FCA/S Only for cooling Monitoring of humidity in the system Valve closed and fan running to dehumidify the system Setpoint typically 35 degrees Celsius FCA/S Drip tray or dew point sensor FCA/S ABB 2/1/2016 DESTO Jürgen Schilder 51
