1 Republic Polytechnic School of Information and Communications Technology C318 Digital Illustration and Imaging Module Curriculum This document addresses the content related abilities, with reference to the module. Abilities of thinking, learning, problem solving, teamwork, communication, debating and defending are addressed by the system wide curricular practices at the institute. Module Description: This module will introduce students to processes, tools and key techniques, such as typography and page layout, for digital print production in graphic design and photography. Students will understand the sequence of events that turn raw images into the finished product and produce their own assignments through the use of industry-standard software applications. Module Assessment: This module is assessed as follows: Daily Grade 50% Understanding Tests - 50 % Module Objectives: Week Key Concepts Learning Objectives 1 Calendar I Explore the principles of design Working with grid design for layout Apply the use of legends or symbols Explore ways to create shapes and text 2 Calendar II Explore how to edit images for colour contrast and brightness Understand what is meant by contrast, visually and numerically Learn how to manipulate end points and three pivot points of the graduation curve to best control contrast in an image Understand why color balance is needed and what Problem Come up with calendar layout, colour schemes, fonts Possible themes: Singapore festivals, seasonal fruits, wildlife in Singapore, Cityscapes, Singapore food Modify the calendar to include an image for each month. Some images are provided to be included into the calendar. Edit and crop the images as necessary. Individual work (2 months each) Take a different approach to the calendar: color, theme
