1 Triton College Visual Communication Assessment Visual Communication Program Assessment Revised Graphic Design Portfolio Checklist/Assessment The VIC 282 Portfolio Design and Production course requires that all students graduating with a certificate or degree in Graphic Design complete a printed and digital portfolio. The portfolio is a compilation of a minimum of 45 portfolio pieces as described in the VIC282 course syllabus. The portfolio requirements were developed through information gathered from industry advisory members and transfer school requirements. Students in the Visual Communication courses complete original design pieces to be used as part of their capstone course/portfolio. The purpose of the portfolio process is for the student to demonstrate skills and knowledge gained throughout the program. Students in VIC282 are assessed in spring of 2015 for their ability to demonstrate knowledge of design topics and apply the general design topics to the pieces in the student portfolio. VIC Graphic Design Portfolio Assessment Tool This assessment tool was used to evaluate the overall success of the students in each of the topic areas by assessing skills demonstrated in the VIC Portfolio capstone course for Spring The instructor uses project assessments to keep record of student success and compiles the results into an overall percentage of student success for each of the objectives.
