1 Quickreference: R&MinteliPhy Network security, cost savings and the reduction of maintenance time are requirements of modern high-performance networks. The R&MinteliPhy system supports the operators of these networks with a balanced and advanced range of hardware and software solutions for all transmission technologies. All components of R&MinteliPhy fit on R&M standard products and can be retro-fitted at a later date Version: May 2016 English
2 System overview «R&MinteliPhy can be mounted on compatible panels from the R&M range at any time.» The simple handling, clarity and reliability of the components are basic elements for us, as they are for all other R&M systems. The R&MinteliPhy system is characterized by the following features. More security Full control over all ports Real-time monitoring Automatic alarms Fewer patching mistakes Logging of all changes More efficiency Automatic creation of network documentation Standardized processes Central database Automatic routing Simple planning of changes Visual guidance at the patch panel More profitability Greater availability Better capacity utilization Effective outsourcing Reduced operating expenses Short payback period Simple installation in retrofitting R&MinteliPhy Manage Software User-friendly, little training necessary Comprehensive function scope Complete R&M library All configuration tools integrated Cloud-based version (SaaS) Standard interfaces for integrating into third-party systems R&MinteliPhy Monitor Hardware Retro-fit on R&M patch panels System warranty on cabling retained Modular patch panels, connector type detection Galvanic isolation Single-level analyzer architecture, one analyzer for thousands of ports Simple, field mountable bus cabling Bus over several network cabinets Individual display in each cabinet for patching instructions and alerts 2
3 Why R&MinteliPhy? More efficient management in data centers With R&MinteliPhy, data centers optimize their manage ment and their infrastructure processes. The system records and monitors the network configuration centrally and in real time. It ensures complete monitoring of every port. Better use is made of resources as a result because the system knows which ports are free and which racks still have space available. The administrator is immediately alerted about unsolicited changes to the infrastructure. Repairs are faster and the availability of the data center increases. Network drawings, cabinet layouts, labels or connection plans can be created errorfree with a few mouseclicks. The result: greater transparency, more efficient management of quality and risks, improved compliance, successful audits Central management of campus and facilities R&MinteliPhy brings huge advances for IT managers. The system is capable of centrally managing large networks extending over many buildings and can handle connections between different sites. No one has to be on site to monitor a LAN or document patching changes. Change procedures can be standardized and automated. Optimum cable routes and link lengths can be computed in combination with geographical information systems, site and floor plans. Tree diagrams and network maps facilitate the overview of complex networks. The result: efficient IT management, more control and greater availability Planning installations and MAC Network planners and IT responsibles appreciate the abundance of functions, visualization tools and component libraries that come with R&MinteliPhy Manage. The client-server solution supports automatic routing, risk analysis and emergency assistance. The planning of new installations or MAC (move, add & change) is finished in no time. Templates for network components help with these tasks. The system creates work orders in logical sequence, complete with bills of materials, and sends them by to installation crews or to their smart phones. LEDs on the Sensorbars show which cables have to be connected to which ports. Work order execution is constantly monitored so the IT manager is aware of the current status at any time. 3
4 System components RFID tags An RFID tag on the connector contains all the necessary information to identify cables and connectors without any doubt. The retrofittable plastic guard with the tag fits all R&M copper and fiber optic connectors Sensorbars A sensor strip detects the RFID tag in a non-contact operation. It can be retrofitted to all R&MinteliPhy compatible patch panels. The strip records connectors and connections. LEDs indicate the operating state of the ports and support the technician in patching Analyzer The Analyzer is connected with all sensorbars via a cable system. It reads out the sensorbars and provides the server with the latest connection data. Its site of operation: in a 19 cabinet or saving space on top hat rails within the cabinet. An Analyzer can cover several cabinets Remote Display One Analyzer can cover many network cabinets. In each cabinet an own display hows important alarm messages and patching instructions. The Remote Display also features a power input port to extend the powering capacity of the Analyzer in configurations with many Sensorbars R&MinteliPhy Manage Server In a central position, the R&MinteliPhy Manage Server controls and monitors the entire infrastructure in real time. Furthermore, it offers a complete set of administration and automation tools. Third-party systems are easy to integrate using standardized interfaces. The server is operating-system independent and is also available as a cloud-based service (Software as a Service) R&MinteliPhy Manage Clients A browser or smartphone is all you need to operate R&MinteliPhy. The graphical user interface features intuitive operation and provides access to all functions, from automatic routing to the scheduling of modification projects. Several users can be working with the system at any one time. 4
