Dr. Wolfgram developed this program at Johnson County Community College in cooperation with Ceva at Overland Park, KS Break 2:30 Session II Dan Hodgson, Managing Director Linn Grove Growth Funds Creating Operating Margin Increases through Applied Technology in Agriculture Production Dan Hodgson founded Linn Grove Ventures, a fund that invests in new technologies, which now has offices in Fargo, Williston, and Bozeman. The fund is one of the few early stage investment funds in new technology in ag, animal and food in the world, and its strength is the expertise and market access of the network of accomplished entrepreneurs in the region. Over the last 7 years, he has been one of the early founders in new technology investment in this space and has a strong global network of innovation access. Dan founded FarmQA, with 5 others, in 2015, and is the CEO. FarmQA provides technology to large integrated agriculture, animal, and food companies to manage to increase operating margins. By creating and bringing sensors and software and partnering with other leading providers, Farm Quality Assurance is working with 10 farms in North America in 2016, 5 farms in Ukraine, and 5 farms in Russia and Kazakhstan.

Porter argues that economic activities are embedded in social activities. This is supported by recent research showing that particularly in rural areas; significantly more innovation takes place in communities which have stronger inter-personal networks. A business cluster is a VALUE MULTIPLIER that helps the region reach a critical threshold, giving the community a key position in specific economic activity. Worthington is a perfect example of such cluster and Worthington Bio is a good opportunity to build strong inter-personal networks. Michael Porter is an economist, researcher, author, advisor, speaker and teacher with distinguished career at Harvard Business School. His extensive research is widely recognized in governments, corporations, NGOs, and academic circles around the globe.
