Following our morning walk audit, keynote Mark Fenton will engage elected officials and the complete streets consultant to illuminate issues observed during the walk, identify common challenges faced by every community, and inspire us all to begin the process of systemic change necessary to a healthy, happy, prosperous, and sustainable urban environment. With Mark as our guide, we'll come away with the big picture and collaborative spirit for a new millennium Orange County. We welcome SCAG, OCTA, CalTrans, and OCCOG to the table. Who are those agencies and how do they affect complete streets implementation regionally? Learn directly from each organization about its role in bike/ped plans, safe routes to school, congestion management plans, OC s Master Plan of Arterial Highways, and the upcoming Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy. Emphasis is on important creative partnerships that unite sources of revenue without Congressional commitment to long-term transportation funding. In this session, speakers will address how cities are: leveraging impact fees, ballot initiatives, user fees, and developer agreements to enable walk/bike/transit modes using MAP-21 via partnership with state and federal governments Moderator: Rock Miller, P.E. We ll highlight performance measures, ATP Cycle 2 s definition of disadvantaged communities, and the role of the Federal government in funding, partnerships, and new tools measuring transportation impacts on the built environment. Safe road design is a necessity for cities to be livable, sustainable communities. Vision Zero Network founder/director Leah Shahum discusses how to move forward safely and equitably with a roadway culture of empathy via best practices, education, and law enforcement. Santa Ana will be highlighted as the first OC city to create a Vision Zero Roadway Safety Action Plan and SCAG will explain its Safety and Encouragement regional campaign.
