IPCAT & Hot Wheels Auto Department of Automobile Engineering of VMKV Engineering College, Salem has conducted two days National Workshop on Innovative Practice and Challenges of Automotive Technologies 2012 at College campus on 15 th & 16 th March Dr.A.P.Karthikeyan, Associate Professor, Dept of Automobile Engineering, PSG Tech, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. A. Nagappan Principal of VMKV Engineering College presided over the function and in his presidential address he advised the students to make the best use of the conference and enhance their knowledge in the field of Automobile and the latest trends in the above field. He detailed about the placement opportunities for Automobile students and advised them to prepare for the placement drive to be held at our college shortly. Dr.K.G.Muthurajan, Dean of the Mechanical Sciences explained importance of the function and appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the students in organizing the above workshop Dr. A.P.KARTHIKEYEN, have explained the developments made in their projects chronologically in the field of Fuel Cell Technology. His speech has really motivated the students & staffs to work in this field. Dr. S.P.SIVAPIRAKASAM, Asso.Prof, Mech, NIT and Dr.K.R.BALASUBRAMANIAN, Asst.Prof, Mech, NIT, Trichy presented lecture in the topics of latest research on L.H.R engines and C.F.D in automotive applications. Dr.S.SIVAPRAKASAM, Asst Prof, Mech, Annamalai University, Chidambaram presented lecture on Biofuels in automobile field. Mr.S.LAKSHMINARAYANAN, Deputy Manager, Bosch, Bangalore has explained the Materials and Heat Treatment used in fuel injection pump. In the Valedictory function, Honorable Chief Guest Mr. N.KARTHIKEYAN, Scientist SD, ISRO, Bangalore Vice Principal were received with the traditional chendai melam. Welcome address was given by Prof. R.PRABHAKAR, Secretary, SAEINDIA Collegiate Club of V.M.K.V Engg College, narrated the importance of the National workshop for the students benefit. Dr.

10 SENGUTTUVAN, Vice Principal of our college in his presidential address have conveyed the details and the importance of the two days workshop and appreciated the effort made by the students to arrange for the function and also the discipline maintained by the students. He also distributed certificates for the participated candidates.
