3 About the Partner Institutions The government of India founded the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) in 1958 with funds from UNESCO. Three years later, IIT Bombay and its sister universities were designated Institutes of National Importance. IIT Bombay established its management school in 1995 to help technology professionals become the renaissance leaders of tomorrow. In 2000, the school was named the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM), in honor of a distinguished alumnus and benefactor.
