Image credit to: Barnaby Aldrick THORNER VICTORY HALL about us Thorner Victory Hall November 2012 THORNER VICTORY HALL a hall for all...and for all occasions Thorner is a traditional Yorkshire village with two pubs, a restaurant, deli, hair salon and a general store. The hall is on the edge of the village, next to open countryside but only eight miles from the centre of Leeds. Thorner Victory Hall is a registered charity and run by volunteers. Income from hiring out the hall helps to meet our running costs, with any profit topping up our fundraising efforts towards making the hall even better. Over the past 10 years we ve spent half a million pounds on improving the fabric of the building and the facilities we offer. Thorner Village green with St.Peters Church in the background Thorner Victory Hall is a very well-equipped and flexible venue available to hire for a wide range of events: Wedding receptions Family gatherings Children s parties Exercise and sports classes Language classes Drama productions Live music and comedy performances Public meetings/ presentations Guides/Scouts residentials School productions

2 detail WHAT WE OFFER in detail... We have three spaces available which can be used either together or individually. Our large hall is about 25m x 9m with a permanent stage of 8m x 4m. With theatre-style seating it can hold about 220 people or around 120 at dining tables. Separated from the large hall by a folding partition wall is the small hall which is about 10m x 10m. This can seat about 40 people and includes our bar area plus a projector and screen. For large events, we fold back the partition and use both halls together. This gives you theatre-style seating for about 280 or dining space for about 180. Our third space is the Burnett Room. This is to the side of the main hall but with its own access from the main entrance lobby. It is generally used for small meetings and language classes. We are licensed to sell alcohol. Our bar has a serving counter with storage space, a sink/washing area and a drinks cooler. Our kitchen has a cooker, fridge/freezer, kettles, cutlery and crockery. Next to the hall is an enclosed grassed area, which can be used by arrangement. For larger events a marquee can be erected here. Outside power points are available. Licensed to sell! Image taken from an old postcard HIRE COSTS 2016 MAIN HALL 22 per hour ( 10 concession) SMALL HALL 14 per hour ( 8 concession) BOTH HALLS TOGETHER 36 per hour ( 18 concession) BURNETT ROOM 10 per hour YOUTH GROUP RESIDENTIAL WEEKENDS 220 CHILDREN S PARTIES 65 for four hours These prices apply to bookings for events in For 2017 we anticipate a 3% price increase, but for more details please contact Ros Ramsey on Concessionary rates are available for youth organisations and regular non-profit making groups. A concessionary rate may also be available for wedding parties of Thorner residents. Rates for large functions include the use of the large and the small halls as well as the Burnett Room, kitchen and bar. For all bookings you have full use of our tables and chairs. Unless booked for other events, the hall is available for children s parties on Friday evenings as well as Saturdays and Sundays, 11am to 3pm and 3pm to 7pm. WEEKEND RATES FOR LARGE FUNCTIONS On Fridays from 1pm to 11.30pm, to allow setting up time, our rate is but the hall must be cleared that evening. For Saturday evening functions you can have use of the hall from 11am Saturday until 11am on Sunday to allow time for setting up and clearing up. Our rate for this is 220. If you want the hall from 1pm Friday until 11am Sunday, the cost is 600. If you need even longer time in the hall, it can be hired from 1pm Friday until 3pm Sunday for 650.

4 other things OTHER THINGS you might need Thorner Victory Hall reserves the right to turn down any booking request. While we welcome all enquiries for party bookings, we also wish to ensure the safety and comfort of anyone attending the party and to avoid disturbance to nearby residents. In particular, if alcohol is to be available at the party we will insist on a senior presence in the hall to supervise the event, both on the door and at the bar. 5 extra help HELP with your event... We offer a flexible approach to large functions such as wedding receptions, pre-wedding parties and parties to mark significant birthdays. If you just want to hire the hall and arrange your own catering and entertainment, that s fine with us. But if you would like some assistance we can put you in touch with our little black book of people who regularly provide their services at the hall and should be able to help you with all the things you need for a great party.
