4 Environmental Monitoring Environmental Reports are produced fortnightly and submitted to the Environmental Health Officer at Westminster City Council. These reports are also uploaded on to the Abell and Cleland web site for general viewing.

11 Demolition Update Abell House Structural demolition now down to the 1 st floor. Building now being demolished from ground level.

13 Demolition Update Cleland House Structural demolition down to 6 th Floor.

15 Delays to demolition programme. Abell House The late decommissioning of the existing substation by UKPN; 25 th June 2013, has delayed the demolition works which will not now be complete until the end of July 2013, with the demolition contractors due to be off site by the 9th August 2013.
16 Delays to demolition programme. Cleland House The demolition contractors have encountered delays in demolishing the upper floors of the building. This, along with UKPN works around the building, has resulted in the demolition programme not now expected to be complete until end September 2013.
17 Next Steps. Sheet Piling Abell House; 2 3 weeks July Secant Wall piling; Abell House w/c 12 th August 2013, 14 weeks. Cleland House end September 2013, 14 weeks.
18 Next Steps. Secant Wall Piling We have appointed Expanded Piling, part of the Laing O'Rourke Group to undertake the Secant Wall Piling at Abell and Cleland.

Smith & Son (Grimsby) Limited established, operating as a well-drilling company, out of which grew Expanded Piling First piling contract undertaken Formation of a separate company; The Expanded Piling Company Limited We have been constructing piles for quite a while, however we understand it is the first time working adjacent to yourselves.

21 Secant Walls The wall is built by drilling alternate male and female piles. The female piles act as a water cut off barrier On excavation the male piles take the lateral load from the surrounding ground
22 Operation 1 - Guide Walls The guide wall is a shallow excavation, designed to keep the piles in the correct position i.e. within 25mm of the planned position.
23 Operation 2- Mobilise Piling Plant 2 no. high torque rotary piling rigs and 2 no. crawler cranes will be deployed onto site. Each rig weighs in at approximately 100T. They move out of hours under police escort. Once on site they will stay on site until the piling is completed.
24 Operation 3 Installation of Rotary Bored Piles Steel casing installed to prevent undermining of surrounding assets The bore is progressed through the casing Drilling continues to the required design depth A steel cage (welded off site) is then installed The concrete is then poured through a centralising funnel The casing is then removed
