6 Procedure for the submission of site plans for a new connection enquiry Introduction Below are the guidelines that you will need to follow when applying for a new connection. In order to provide a quotation we require two sets of plans, a Location Plan and a Site Layout Plan, together with your application form. The Location Plan shows where to find the proposed site for the new connection. The Site Layout Plan provides further details on how the site is laid out and includes dimensions of the new connection. Location Plan 1. All applications should have a Location Plan enclosed. The applicant must highlight the site location on the map. 2. Location Plans can be obtained by using A-Z street maps, or via the internet, which is now available at most public libraries. The following internet sites; (free maps and links) and offer instant Location Plans at scales of 1:5000 and 1: Site location Any town Diagram 1 - Example of Location Plan 6/7 2.0m 7
7 Procedure for the submission of site plans for a new connection enquiry Site Layout Plan 1. In the absence of an architect s drawing, all applications need to have a Site Layout Plan enclosed. The applicant must draw all proposed buildings and accesses onto the site plan showing accurate measurements. 2. The full site address and proposed meter position should be marked onto the plan with an X (see below for guidelines on meter positions). 3. The size of the new building should be shown on the plan as well as its position on-site in relation to existing features of the site plan using measurements. 4. Measurements should be taken and drawn on the plan to show the position and size of the new building to the nearest 0.1m. 5. Measurements should be taken from permanent features on-site eg existing buildings and boundaries, foot path and kerb lines. Measurements should be legible and easy to read. 6. Any existing buildings to be demolished should be marked on the plan also. 7. Please do not take measurements from doorways, gate posts, bay windows, temporary posts and garden gateways or street furniture (eg lamps, signs and bollards). Meter position New and re-serviced domestic housing services and commercial supplies up to 100 Amps should be installed in outdoor meter boxes mounted into an external wall on the front or side elevation of the property in front of any fence or gates to allow unrestricted public access. They should be fitted at a minimum height of 450mm and a maximum height of 1050mm from ground level to the bottom of the box. Properties converted into flats must have either external meter boxes where practicable or internal at a common area adjacent the front door. The following positions are not permitted: at the rear of the property at the side of the property behind fences or gates facing or opening directly onto public footpaths or into alleyways or entries within a coal, dustbin or refuse store, garage, porch under windows unless minimum installation height can be achieved. Note: any proposal of indoor meter positions shall only be accepted where the developer can demonstrate that the Local Planning Authority will not permit an outdoor meter box by virtue of the building being listed or in a conservation area, or for a commercial supply where a meter box is not feasible, e.g. shop frontage. 3. Show the size and position of the new building 4. Measurements taken should be to the nearest 0.1m 2.0 Boundary line removed 1.
