4 Health Issues Recent surveys carried out across the EU: Around half of European workers consider stress to be common in their workplace. Absence from work is frequently discussed in terms of its costs

5 The cost While accidents at work are decreasing absence from work due to sickness is increasing, particularly long-term absence. In Malta the most recent statistics show: Average days lost per employee in 2008 were 3.32 in the private sector, and 8.34 in the public sector
