Phase 1 of the Aarhus Light Rail project includes a connection of the existing Regional train netwk linking the Odder and Grenaa routes and modification to the alignment to accommodate Light Rail Traffic and construction of a new 14 km double-tracked light rail section from Aarhus H to connect to the existing alignment at Lystrup, nth of Aarhus. The contract consists of the design and build of all necessary Railway Infrastructure including a new Control and Maintenance Centre (CMC) and platfms along the new double-track section. The scope includes the design, manufacture and maintenance of the required Rolling Stock. The scope of the Railway Infrastructure contains track, traction power, including substations, the Overhead Catenary System, the interlocking system including ATP, telecommunications, interface to road signalling, Passenger Infmation System and other station equipment. The CMC incpates the Depot, Operation Control Centre and maintenance facilities. The Rolling Stock will operate under purely electric traction, based on a 750 V DC system. The contract consists of the design, build and maintenance of LRT trains and Tram-Trains capable of operating on the same sections. The contract will include maintenance of the rolling stock. In addition an option f catenary free section along the Harbour is included.
