3 Corel DRAW 11 Objectives: At the end of the contact / experiential / practice sessions the participants will be able to 1.0 Work with Corel Draw to develop Graphical designs. 1.1 List the features in Corel Draw Use the tools available in Corel Draw Prepare graphics for various applications by practising through the hands-on-exercises. Introduction: Corel DRAW 11 s support for symbols makes formerly laborious tasks, such as asset management and global changes, quick and easy. It is built on this advantage by adding new line and shape creation tools. Each of the new tools utilizes a three-point approach to line or shape creation. For instance, you draw a curved line with the 3 Point Curve Tool by clicking on one spot, dragging to another, letting go of the mouse and then clicking on another spot. There are similar new tools for drawing rectangles and ellipses. Features Software for graphic design, page layout, photo editing, and vector animation Extensive compatibility Full range of output options Includes CorelDraw 11, Photo-Paint 11, and R.A.V.E. 2 Create Web animations in minutes Symbols - Symbols provide a much more efficient way of using repeating elements in a file, resulting in smaller file sizes and simplified editing. Instead of copying or cloning many repeating elements, you define an object as a symbol and place "instances" throughout your document. If you need to edit the symbol, Dr.PS/Prof./ET&MM/NITTTR/CHENNAI/
4 you can do so once and all instances are updated. However, you can edit specific properties of individual symbols such as transparency, rotation, and size. 3-point tools - Three new tools the 3-point ellipse, 3-point rectangle, and 3-point curve simplify the creation of basic shapes. With the 3-point ellipse and 3-point rectangle, you can draw these shapes at angles in one step rather than drawing the shape and then rotating it. Shapes are drawn by click-dragging to set the angle, then clicking a second time to define the length and height. The 3- point curve tool works similarly to draw curved lines. A preview of the shape is shown before you make the final click, so you can see exactly what you're going to get. Text import formatting options - When importing or pasting text, CorelDRAW offers three options: maintain fonts and formatting, maintain formatting only, or discard fonts and formatting. This works fairly well, although fonts and formatting were not entirely maintained in some situations. It seemed to work more reliably when pasting text rather than importing it. It is possible to maintain fonts only and discard all formatting without any problem. Convert paragraph text to curves It possible to convert paragraph text to curves and preserve special formatting such as drop caps, bullets, line spacing, tabs and justification. This works without flaw. Pressure-sensitive Smudge and Roughen brushes - These two new brushes give you more ways to modify shapes and lines. The Smudge brush lets you manipulate curves and object outlines simply by pushing them around. By tracing over outlines with the Roughen brush, you can give them a zigzag or spiky appearance. Both these tools are sensitive to pressure, tilt, and bearing when used with a graphics tablet. Dr.PS/Prof./ET&MM/NITTTR/CHENNAI/
5 New Polyline and Pen tools - These are simplified versions of the Freehand and Bezier tools, respectively. With the Polyline tool you can easily alternate between drawing freehand curves and straight line segments in a continuous path. The Pen tool works almost like the Bezier tool, but gives you more feedback as you draw by showing you a preview of the next curve segment before it is laid down. A bit difficult to explain in words, but once you use these tools, you're likely to find them easier and more flexible than the Freehand and Bezier tools, which Corel was smart enough not to replace entirely. Enhanced snapping It is not much of a snapper, but now there is even better precision available with this. Enhanced shaping - Three new options for combining shapes are now available via the property bar, menus, and a docker. Simplify deletes the overlapping portions of overlapping objects and can be used on multiple objects. Front minus back keeps the front object and trims the object behind it, deleting the hidden portion. Back minus front keeps the object on the bottom while trimming the object on top, discarding the overlapping area. Closing line segments - Now when you close a path you can choose from four options: Closest Nodes with Straight Lines, Closest Nodes with Curvy Lines, Start to End with Straight Lines, and Start to End with Curvy Lines. Align & Distribute commands - Now more of these options are offered from the menus, and the Align & Distribute dialog can remain open all the time. Handy, but it would have been even better as a docker with align and distribute combined into a single panel. Better support for numerous formats - Support for the following formats has been expanded or enhanced: DSF, SVG, PSD, CPT, PDF, and DXF/DWG. Dr.PS/Prof./ET&MM/NITTTR/CHENNAI/
