PLACE AND DATES OF THE SESSION In accordance with decision CE/DEC/5(LXXXII), the Executive Council will hold its eighty-third session at Jeju, Republic of Korea, on 13 and 14 June 2008, at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Korea. STATUS OF PARTICIPANTS The Government of the Republic of Korea will take the necessary steps to facilitate the arrival and departure of participants invited by the Organization, as well as their stay in this country. 4. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS The Republic of Korea has no vaccination requirements. 5. ENTRY FORMALITIES Participants should take note of the conditions of entry at the territory of the Republic of Korea, which are as follows: A. 3 3 CE/83/Note Inf.1 Delegates who may require an entry visa are requested to contact diplomatic or consular missions of the Republic of Korea in their countries in order to obtain their entry visas. Delegates in whose countries the Republic of Korea has no diplomatic mission are requested to contact the Secretariat of the Organization sufficiently in advance, indicating all the necessary information, in order to enable the authorities of the Republic of Korea to take the necessary measures in this respect: - Name and surname - Nationality - Number and type of passport - Place and date of birth - Validity of passport - Travel information (date, time and flight number) - Information on entry visa to the Republic of Korea can be consulted on the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea: the Immigration Bureau: and in the official site of Korea Tourism Organization : 6. AIR TRANSPORT Korean airline Korean Air is offering a 30 per cent special discounts on full-fare economy and business class round-trip flights to the Republic of Korea for the participants in the eighty-third session of the Executive Council. These discounts are valid only on booked Korean Air flights. The validity period for these reduced-fare tickets is from 1 May to 30 June, RECEPTION AT THE AIRPORT Participants will be met at the Incheon International Airport of Seoul by the reception services of the host country which will help them to complete the entry formalities and will provide for transfer to the corresponding hotels for delegates who will stay in Seoul, and transfer to the Gimpo Airport to those who will go directly to Jeju. The transfer time from the International to the domestic airport takes approximately 30 minutes drive. Once in Jeju, another reception service will assist the delegates and provide the transfer to the corresponding hotels. Signs will be placed at several prominent places in the airport. To enable the local authorities to organize this service, participants are requested to complete and return the attached participation form indicating their arrival, departure and accommodation details in Seoul and in Jeju.

4 CE/83/Note Inf REGISTRATION AND BADGES The registration desk will be open at the Lotte Hotel Jeju on Wednesday, 11 June and on Thursday, 12 June, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday, 13 June, from 9 a.m. onwards. Badges will be issued at the time of registration. Participants are requested to wear their identification badges throughout the Council session in the area reserved for the meetings, as well as at all social events. 9. WORKING DOCUMENTS The majority of the working documents for the Council session will be dispatched as soon as possible, in accordance with the statutory provisions. Delegates are requested to bring with them copies of the documents sent to them in advance. 10. LIST OF PARTICIPANTS A provisional list of participants, based on the replies referred to in paragraph 2 above, will be drawn up on Thursday, 10 June. The final list of participants, prepared on the basis of the data entered by delegates and observers in their registration forms, will be distributed later on during the Council session. 11. WORKING LANGUAGES The documents for the Council session will be distributed in Arabic, English, French, Russian and Spanish, and simultaneous interpretation of the Council discussions will also be provided in English, French, Spanish and Russian. 12. ACCOMMODATION Special rates have been obtained for the following hotels. ORGANIZED TOURS A list of organized tours will be given in a forthcoming Information Note for those participants coming before the meetings or willing to stay in the Republic of Korea after the meetings in order to visit other places of interest of the country. 16. PRACTICAL INFORMATION Local currency and rate of exchange: The Republic of Korea s official currency is Won (KRW). The rate of exchange applicable in April 2008 is 1 USD for KRW and 1 Euro for 1, KRW. Banknotes come in denominations of 1000, 5000 and and coins in denominations of 100 and 500 KRW. Climate: The local climate is relatively temperate. During the month of June the average temperature in Seoul is 24 C and the average precipitation is 0.5 mm, meanwhile the average temperature in Jeju is 21 C and the average precipitation is 70 mm. Official language: Korean is the official language of the Republic of Korea, English is also widely spoken. Clothing: For meetings, women generally wear normal business attire and men a jacket and tie. Participants are advised to pack clothing suitable for spring-like weather. Local time: GMT + 9 Electricity: The electric current in the Republic of Korea is 220 volts. Power outlets take two round pin plugs. Business hours: Banks are open from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and are closed on Friday and Saturday. Shops are open the whole week from 8.30 a.m. till late evening, while Department stores are open from a.m. to 8 p.m.
