2 Let s review the objectives for this presentation: 1) First we will review some tips for using Adobe Presenter 2) Next we will identify the steps for defining the Audio input source for your Adobe Presentation 3) Then we will discuss the steps for adding audio narration to your PowerPoint presentation using Adobe Presenter 4) And finally we will identify the steps for adding Quiz questions to your PowerPoint presentation using Adobe Presenter. 2

3 Let s begin by reviewing some tips for Adobe Presenter. Begin by preparing your PowerPoint presentation. Select or create a template that is not busy and does not contain any watermarks in the background. Be sure to select colors for the background and fonts that contrast. You want to be sure to create a contrast that is comfortable for any student viewing this from a computer monitor. For instance, you should not use a red or orange font on a green background as students that are color blind may have a hard time reading this. Choose a San-Serif font or a font that is easy to read on a computer screen. Examples of this type of font include Tahoma, Verdana, or Arial. 3

4 When using PowerPoint you want to be sure to make your font size between 26 and 32 points. Anything smaller may be harder for your students to read. Also, be sure to create a written script. Speaking into a microphone can be more difficult than giving a presentation to a live audience. To ensure a smooth and professional delivery that includes all of your important points, consider creating a script for the entire presentation before you begin recording. Be sure to create slide titles. This will give your users easy access to any slide. Check to ensure the slide title appears in the PowerPoint outline for all slides, including graphic-only slides, before publishing your presentation. While Adobe presenter is compatible with PowerPoint 2007, it is not fully supported. Therefore, you will need to save your PowerPoint presentation as a PowerPoint or (.PPT) file format. Please note that once you save your presentation, you should not change the file name as this may cause conflict with the Adobe Presenter components of your presentation. 4

5 If you decide to add Presenter Photos to your presentation, for the best results your picture should be 88 x 118 pixels. If you add a company logo, it should be resized to 148 x 52 pixels. The file formats that are supported for the presenter photo and company logo are JPG and PNG. If you insert Flash files or videos in your presentation, they should be is SWF format and should not exceed 720 x 540 pixels. 5

6 There are 3 different ways you can incorporate videos into your Adobe Presenter presentation. The first option you have is to insert it as talking head video in the Presenter area of the screen. 6

7 Another option is to embed the video in the slide itself. You may want to do this if the video is only present for one slide. If you are going for a white screen effect where the presenter appears as though they are interacting with the slide content. 7

8 Your last option is to use the entire slide area for maximum fidelity. This is effective when you are doing demonstrations or simulations where you want to provide as much real estate as possible. 8

9 There are some basic guidelines that you need to be aware of when using Adobe Presenter. When you want to insert Talking Head video you can use the FLV or SWF format. The display area in the Presenter area is optimized for video that is 240 pixels tall and 180 pixels wide. Video will be scaled to fit in this space. If you wish to incorporate on Slide video into your presentation, only SWF format is supported. The video can be any size and can be placed anywhere on the slide. Finally, if you want to have your video to take up the entire space of your presentation slide area you should make your video clip 720 by 540 pixels to reduce the amount of pixelation or resizing that we need to do when rendering the slide. Again, only SWF format is supported for full slide video. 9
