4 PPT 2013 MOS Reference Study Guide Create and manage a Presentation PowerPoint has many features that help you create and manage a presentation. For example, it is east to insert many different files into a presentation, including worksheets, charts, and text documents. Once you have all the information in a presentation you can format it by applying a slide master. And finally, when you are ready to show your presentation you can choose an appropriate screen resolution. Importing text files into presentations 1. Click the INSERT tab on the Ribbon 2. Click the Object button in the Text group, click the Create from file option button, then click the Browse button. 3. Locate the text file, then click OK. Applying a slide master 1. Click the VIEW tab on the Ribbon. 2. Click the Slide Master button in the Master Views group. 3. Click the Insert Slide Master button in the Edit Master group. Configuring slideshow resolution 1. Right-click your desktop, then click Screen Resolution in the shortcut menu. 2. Click the Resolution list box, then click a desired resolution. 3. Click OK. Insert and Format Shapes and Slides Using PowerPoint tools, such as guides, gridlines, and Smart Guides, you be more productive as you position shapes and other objects on the slide of your presentation. Displaying gridlines 1. Right-click a blank area of the slide, point to Grid and Guides, then click Gridlines.

5 Create Slide Content When you insert media into your presentation, you can either embed or link the media object. If you embed the object, it becomes a part of the presentation and the file size of your presentation increases. If you choose to link the media object to your presentation, an image of the object appears on your slide that is linked to the actual object and your presentation file size does not increase. Linking to external media 1. Click the INSERT tab on the Ribbon, click the Video button in the Media group, then click Online Video or Video on My PC. 2. Locate the media you want to link, then click the media to select it. 3. Click the Insert button list arrow, then click Link to File.
