2 Dear candidate, I m thrilled that you re interested in working for ARK Schools as part of the ARK Teacher Training Team. Our programme is currently in its successful pilot year, having recruited over 50 outstanding graduates and career changers and having one of the highest application rates per space in the country. We are moving into a period of rapid growth as we prepare to offer an independently accredited programme by September This is an exciting time to be a part of a developing programme that is on the forefront of transforming teacher education. The work we do isn t easy. But it is extremely rewarding. We re so proud of the staff who work tirelessly to help our trainee teachers, and ultimately our pupils achieve their goals. 3 ARK TEACHER TRAINING On the ARK Teacher Training progamme, trainees spend a year working in one of our 27 schools, graduating with a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status. They receive regular, practical support from some of the best people in the profession. The training is never just theoretical we always use practical tips and other techniques, such as video. This helps our trainees close the gap between learning theory and putting it to use in the classroom. ARK Teacher Training has now been granted independent accreditation to offer QTS from September 2014, affirming the work we have done in our pilot year and allowing us to expand the progamme. We will also continue to work in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University to offer a PGCE to all trainees. Over the next year the ARK Teacher Training team will be expanding from three members to over 15. It is a rare opportunity to join an organisation in the early stages of developing a new approach to teacher training and make a substantial impact to both the strategy and delivery of the programme.

5 WHY WORK FOR US OUR WORK IS MORE CHALLENGING, AND MORE REWARDING The percentage of ARK pupils on free school meals is almost twice the national average, and more than a third of our pupils speak English as an additional language. This means our staff have to work especially hard to help pupils to excel. Their hard work is paying off. Of the 13 ARK schools that have been inspected by Ofsted, 12 are rated good or outstanding. At GCSE, our pupils outperformed national attainment and progress in both English and mathematics this year. Best of all, 80% of our year 13 pupils won a place at university.
