8 multi-awarded Ann Pamintuan furniture, is a home jewelry accessories and designer.her line of sophisticated and thoughtful designs and excellent craftsmanship have helped propel Philippine design into the international limelight. With a design sensibility deeply rooted in respect for materials, confident shapes and clean lines, and highly influenced by an Asian modernist aesthetic, Ann Pamintuan leads the new wave of Filipino designers gaining worldwide recognition from Manila to design capitals such as New York, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, and Milan. Pamintuan s company, The Gilded Expressions, started as an experiment in entrepreneurship, operating on a small capital from the garage of her home. Driven by design instincts inherited from her father, she produced fashion accessories by electroplating exotic blooms and roots. The original concept became highly successful, both in the retail market and at trade fairs, and earned for the designer a reputation for having a fresh take on indigenous materials. An opportunity to work with the country s design mavericks, among them the visionary stalwart of Philippine design Ely Pinto, proved to be the turning point in Pamintuan s career. The Cocoon Loung, Pamintuan s internationally award-winning furniture-piece made entirely out of metal. page 8
