After the initial treatment for a stroke is given and patients are stabilized, it is time to begin the road to recovery. A vital component of our patient s stroke recovery is acute rehabilitation. The experts of our Acute Rehabilitation Unit provide intensive inpatient rehabilitation services to patients recovering from stroke and many other neurological and traumatic injuries. The rehabilitation process is essential in helping our patients return to the most functionally independent and satisfying lifestyle that is possible. For many individuals, this may be a lifelong process, and we are committed to providing the most important head-start in the recovery process by providing customized, individualized care. Our Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team are experts at providing around the clock care in specialized therapies, such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech- Language Pathology, Social Services, Neuropsychology, Case Management and Nutrition Services. Our goal is to provide every patient with optimum recovery of functional, cognitive, behavioral and psychosocial skills to ease the transition to home or to an out-patient rehabilitation program. Mr. Chin had very little understanding of the procedure when he began to consider robotic surgery for treatment of prostate cancer. He spoke openly with his physician, Dr. Sung Choe, about the da Vinci Robotic Surgery Program. Dr. Choe has performed hundreds of successful da Vinci robotic surgeries and helped Mr. Chin understand robotic surgery and whether it would be the right decision for him. The accuracy of the technology was the decision point for me, said Mr. Chin. Once I knew that it was much less invasive, with almost no nerve damage, and had a quicker recovery time, there was no reason not to go with this procedure. Mr. Chin had a very successful surgery and returned to work within weeks.
