NUFFIELD HEALTH MANCHESTER THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE
The future of healthcare is HERE As part of a strategic partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, Nuffield Heath has purchased a 5 acre site on the Elizabeth Gaskell campus, on which we will build a new c 40 million state of the art private hospital, due to open its doors in late This will be no ordinary hospital. We intend to build one of the most modern and technologically advanced private tertiary hospitals in the UK with some 100 beds and 5 digital theatres. It will house cutting edge diagnostics and surgical equipment. Our flagship hospital will be supported by a neighbouring modern wellbeing and rehabilitation centre to help us realise our vision of a more complete integrated healthcare offering for consumers. The Nuffield Health approach will be one of collaboration, with local partners and clinicians. Integral to our approach is partnerships. Partnerships have already been formed with Manchester Metropolitan University, Bruntwood Developments and the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Collaborating and identifying opportunities with all our partners will help create a truly world-class facility for the population of Greater Manchester and well beyond. But we are much more than just a hospital operator. Nuffield Health owns and runs 275 consumer and corporate wellbeing centres as well as several medical, health assessment and specialist rehabilitation centres across the UK and is the largest employer of physiotherapists in the UK outside the NHS. As a not-for-profit enterprise our strategic aim is to improve the health and wellbeing of the UK population. Manchester and the North West is the most important economic community outside London and we are very excited to be able to bring our expertise in integrated healthcare solutions to contribute to the health and wellbeing of the region.
Nuffield Health is INDEPENDENT As a not-for-profit healthcare organisation, all surplus finance is reinvested back into the organisation to benefit the health of our customers. As part of this process, we continually invest in the latest technology, equipment and infrastructure to continue delivering the highest standards of care and support. Nuffield Health has been building and managing private hospitals for over 50 years. In the last 10 years alone, we have built 10 new hospitals and undertaken 12 hospital refurbishment programmes at a total cost of 270m. This level of sustained investment is unrivalled. In 2013, we invested over 45m on our new 30-bed, state of the art hospital in Bristol and a refurbishment programme in our hospitals in Brighton, Brentwood and Wessex. Work has also now started on our new 27m five-star hospital in Cambridge, due for completion in Every operating theatre we create in our new hospitals will be fully digital, with the latest high-definition, high speed links with a hoodless canopy. These theatres provide instant access to images, high definition pictures, video capture and monitors. The latest in digital theatre technology has already been installed at several of our hospitals Leeds, Plymouth, Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Wessex, Bristol and Guildford.
Nuffield Health is ENTERPRISING Founded in 1957 as a healthcare enterprise, we gave people the freedom to choose. Five decades later, in 2007, we set out a bold new vision of joined up health with end-to-end provision. Nuffield Health takes a unique approach to improving health in the UK. Through traditional healthcare; fitness and wellbeing services; business, digital and social platforms; we are building a national network of health and wellbeing services to connect with every aspect of life, contributing to the health and wellbeing of the UK population. We believe that prevention is as important as cure. We unite services across the health landscape, thereby improving and maintaining health, containing the risk of illness and disease, and providing diagnosis and treatment when it is needed. Nuffield Health runs a unique and growing physiotherapy service. With over 500 employed physiotherapists and 90 specialist physiotherapy centres, Nuffield Health is the largest single employer of physiotherapists outside of the NHS. Our physiotherapy services range from inpatient to outpatient care and managing MSK conditions to more specialist services. 31 hospitals (1342 beds) 123 operating theatres 75 fitness and wellbeing centres 4 medical centres Britain s leading provider of corporate wellbeing solutions Nuffield Health works with over half of the FTSE 100 companies and helps to maintain a healthy workforce for over 1,600 businesses across the UK. Including: Barclays, HSBC, Vodafone, Tesco, B&Q, JP Morgan Our delivery model ranges from hands on care, to new remote telephone based services and class based rehabilitation. Nuffield Health physiotherapy is uniquely underpinned by evidence based pathways, a robust clinical governance framework with a focus on outcomes and investment in the learning and development of our people. Prevent Improve & Maintain Health Cure Treat problems and recovery Championing Health as it should be Assess & Contain Risks Diagnose
Nuffield Health is PASSIONATE We believe that top-quality nursing care is vital for the wellbeing of our hospital patients. And we believe that matrons are best-placed to support and lead our nursing staff as they put our patients first. Our new initiative, The Nuffield Way of Caring, further empowers our matrons in their leadership and caring roles. Developed by all 31 of our matrons, the Nuffield Way of Caring has redefined the role of matrons, blending the traditional caring role with the contemporary leadership and clinical skills required in a 21 st century healthcare environment. The Nuffield Way of Caring is based on evidence, best practice and innovation. It enables our matrons to provide leadership to every member of our nursing teams, producing a workforce absolutely committed to patient care, life-long learning and professional development. Combined with the clinical expertise of our Doctors and Consultants, it s a powerful mix. I enjoy working at the Nuffield Tees because it has very high standards of care for my patients. It is a very happy working environment with a dedicated team. The feedback from my patients is always exceedingly positive about the care they have received. Manoj Krishna Consultant Spinal Surgeon Our commitment to quality and governance has been recognised extensively. The only private hospital provider to hold the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) Level 3 accreditation The Laing and Buisson Award for Risk Management and Continuity The Insurance and Risk (CIR) Award for Risk Management Team of the Year ISO accreditation for Health & Safety
Nuffield Health is CARING The patient is at the heart of everything we do. This is our ethos, which was best demonstrated by our response to the PIP breast implant issue in Nuffield Health was the first to react by providing free of charge, full consultations and the removal and replacement of the implants. Patients expressed their appreciation of the speed with which we reacted and the comfort and security that our actions brought them. We are leading the drive in the industry for greater patient transparency and informed choice. The Nuffield Health Promise was launched in It guarantees fixed and transparent prices for surgical procedures and promises industry-leading, lifetime after-care following surgery in the event of any complications. The Nuffield Health Promise gives patients complete peace of mind and the assurance that they will be looked after every step of the way, even after they have left one of our hospitals. In 2013 we treated over 450,000 patients in our 31 hospitals, helping them get fit and healthy and stay that way. We re trusted by thousands. In 2013, procedures carried out by our hospitals included: 51,300 orthopaedic procedures, reducing pain and increasing mobility 29,500 general surgical procedures 16,300 ophthalmic procedures improving sight 52,800 MRI scans * Not including private patient units at NHS hospitals. Local area defined as within 15 miles of the Nuffield Health hospital. We will match against written quotes only. Promise is valid for patients paying for themselves. ** Where possible, we promise to assist you to receive any follow up advice, treatment or care that is clinically required from your Consultant for as long as you may require it. If a prosthesis is used as part of your treatment this is guaranteed for the manufacturer s official lifetime of that prosthesis. Clinically required indicates where further intervention and/or monitoring of a patient s condition is deemed necessary as a direct result of surgical intervention.
