2 Short-Term Rehabilitative Care for Seniors The Ida Kayne Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at the Los Angeles Jewish Home is designed to help seniors successfully transition back home after an illness, injury, medical procedure, or hospital stay. Expert medical and rehabilitative staff and stateof-the-art facilities make the Ida Kayne TCU the ideal partner on the path to recovery and wellness. Short-term participants at the Ida Kayne TCU receive treatment from geriatric specialists in physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and enjoy full access to all of the clinical and personal support services of the Jewish Home. The Jewish Home takes a team approach to recovery and wellness by combining onsite medical care, prescribed therapies, personal coaching and counseling, high quality nutrition and access to the Home s many activities.

3 Everything is directed toward the goal of promoting healing, building confidence and ability, and restoring independence. With our widely-acclaimed model of caring for the needs of the whole person, the Jewish Home also provides a sensitive environment full of social, cultural, and spiritual opportunities. The Ida Kayne TCU welcomes individuals 55 and over. The average length of stay is 2 6 weeks, though longer stays of up to 90 days are possible. Located in the Mark Taper Building on the Jewish Home s Grancell Village campus, the Unit s facilities offer one private and seventeen double-occupancy rooms.

6 About the Jewish Home Providing quality care for seniors for nearly 100 years, the Jewish Home offers unique programs to nurture and enhance the body, mind, and spirit. Each year, more than 1,200 women and men are cared for in-residence on two village campuses, with services including independent living accommodations, residential care, skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitative care, acute psychiatric care, and Alzheimer s disease and dementia care. Ancillary programs, including Skirball Hospice and community clinics, bring our compassion and expertise to another 500 Los Angeles residents living in their own homes or other facilities. As a nationally recognized leader in geriatric care and services, the Jewish Home maintains research partnerships with the region s leading medical institutions, including the UCLA School of Medicine and the USC Keck School of Medicine.

7 Specialized Geriatric Rehabilitation The Jewish Home s interdisciplinary team provides ongoing coordination of multiple geriatric specialities to develop, implement and adjust treatment plans. Treatment features include: Physical Therapy to increase strength, reduce pain, and improve functioning Occupational Therapy to assist in reacquisition of skills related to the activities of daily living Speech Therapy to restore and enhance communication, and improve cognitive abilities Social Services to provide emotional and motivational support throughout the process of recovery and healing Discharge Planning to ensure a comfortable and successful transition back to the home environment The Ida Kayne Transitional Care Unit accepts private insurance or Medicare/Medi-Cal.
