1 Non-Profit Org. U.S. Postage PAID Reading, PA Permit No. 203 THE READING HOSPITAL SPEAKERS BUREAU
2 Knowledge can be a powerful tool in maintaining your health. We re committed to improving the health of the community we serve. That s why we created The Reading Hospital Speakers Bureau. The Reading Hospital Speakers Bureau shares valuable information about a wide range of healthcare topics that affect everyone in our community. And there is no cost to your organization! Our speakers, each with a distinctive style, are prepared to talk for 20 to 30 minutes. Some speakers have a formal presentation followed by a question-and-answer period. Others are less formal, and encourage questions anytime during the presentation. Schedule a speaker today. Call our Resource Center at HELP. Please allow a minimum of four weeks notice. Our list of Speakers Bureau topics follows. If there is a specific healthcare topic not on our list, contact us at HELP. We may be able to tailor a program to meet your needs.
3 The New Hospital in Berks County The Reading Hospital recently opened a new addition that is larger than most free-standing hospitals in this country. N-Building centralizes care for major services like heart, cancer, and orthopaedics, and provides a greatly expanded Emergency Department. Learn what this approach to Hospital care means to our community. Emergency! Sudden illness or injury is an unnerving experience. Our Emergency Department handles everything from a cut finger to a life-threatening heart attack, 24 hours a day. Board-certified physicians and specially trained emergency nurses explain this important community healthcare service, and discuss the growing demand for emergency services in our community. Preventing Trauma We all know we should fasten our seat belts every time we get into a car, and that we should never drive after drinking alcohol. But can you recognize an accident waiting to happen right in your own home? Experts from Berks County s only accredited Regional Trauma Center point out ways that you can protect yourself and your family from accidents at home, at play, or in the workplace. After the Hospital As hospital stays become shorter, more health care following discharge is provided in the home, rehabilitation centers, or extended care facilities. Post-acute care professionals and social workers talk about the many programs available to patients to assure continuity of care. They will also teach you how to pick a home health agency, skilled nursing center, or extended care facility before the need arises. Maybe Baby The road to childbirth and parenting is full of physical, emotional, and social changes. The more you know before your baby is born, the better prepared you will be to face these challenges. Beginnings Maternity Center at The Reading Hospital offers speakers on a variety of topics related to pregnancy and newborn health. From pre-pregnancy health, to infertility issues, to breastfeeding support, our speakers educate you about what to expect during pregnancy, delivery, and after your baby comes home.
