1 RADIATOR VALVE type m72 The m72 AHA radiator valve is intended for use with pump-type hot water systems. It is constructed of AMETAL, brass and heat resistant plastic. The handwheel is manufactured from injection moulded Makrolon. The flow resistance is determined and adjusted directly f rom the Kv scale (see nomograph). The AHA KOMBI coupling for clamp connection consists of a thrust screw and cone {double cone or reduction cone). The thrust screw has an external pipe thread. For application and installation see sheet entitled "AHA compression-couplings." Valves with a detached key are preset, however, from the figure markings from -9 on the indicator plate. The handwheel is protected by a plastic Cap during delivery and assembly. Construction: The valve housing is die cast in AMETAL and the remaining parts are made of brass. The control spindle with its cone is flush with the valve housing and during regulation produces a quantity directly proportional to the rotation. The spindle bushing on valves fitted with handwheels is sealed with a stuffing box made from teflon reinforced wmpressed asbestos, together with a gland and box nut. Valves for detached keys are sealed with O-rings. Valve housing: die cast AMETAL Other parts: brass Stuffing box packing: asbestos, teflon impregnated and precompressed. Handwheel: light grey, impact resistant plastic, Makrolon. Surf ace treatment: Testing: Packning: Presetting: Each valve is individually tested before despatch, both for seat sealing and overall leak-tightness. The valves are packed in cardboard boxes. On delivery valves fitted with handwheels are set at Kv 0,3 for conn.no. 0 and Kv 0,5 for conn.no. 5. Valves for detached keys are set at presetting number 5. If another resistance is required: The valve is closed and the handwheel screw removed. The handwheel is then lifted from the spline grip, turned and refitted with the index opposite the required presetting position according to the dial marking. (Kv-scale). After the handwheel screw has been refitted resetting is complete. For valves with a detached key presetting is done in the following manner: Turn the handle so that the valve is completely closed. Loosen the lock nut retaining the indicator plate and turn it so that the required presetting figure (dial division) comes up opposite the top of the arrow on the key. Tighten the lock nut for the indicator plate. Carefully check that the top of the pointer never lies flush with the stop on the indicator plate when the valve is closed. (The indicator must not be placed on the wrong side of the stop). Proportion Kv-scale (volume in m3/h with a drop in pressure of kg/cm2) to Cv-scale (volume in US gpm. with a drop in pressure of l.psi) is: Kv = 0,86. Cv; Cv =,7.. Kv. Page 2
