T keep yur little gblins safe, just take a minute and read Newbury Plice Department Safety Tips fr Hallween...! Have a great and safe time this Hallween seasn...!!! Trick-r-Treaters Carry a bright flashlight t illuminate sidewalks, steps and paths. Use fresh flashlight batteries. Check it BEFORE yu leave the huse. Chemical GLOW in the DARK LIGHT STICKS can be used alng with flashlights. G t the bathrm just befre ging trick and treating. Always WALK, d nt run. Yu can slip and fall dwn... OUCH...!!! Stay n the Sidewalks. (If their is n sidewalk) walk n the left side f the rad. Walk SINGLE file, facing the traffic. Obey ALL lcal traffic signals. Crss nly at crners, with adults. DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT wear and use rllerblades t g ut trick-rtreating. Yu can trip n yur cstume, fall because f uneven sidewalks, and crash int ther Hallween trick-r-treaters using the crwded sidewalks. Yu will have prblems with yard decratins and climbing prch stairs. Its very dark utside, and yu cannt see r react fast enugh t a sudden prblem. Yu will becme the prblem in an ambulance ging t the hspital with brken bnes. OUCH and DOUBLE OUCH...!!! DO NOT assume yu have the right f way. Because ne car stps, desn't mean thers will...! Trick-r-Treat nly in familiar neighbrhds. DO NOT cut acrss strangers yards r driveways. Trip n hses, rakes...! Wear a watch yu can read in the dark. Set the watch alarm if yu have time limit fr Trick-r-Treating. Make sure yur cstumes dn't drag n the grund. Yu culd trip and hurt yurself. OUCH Again...!!! Wear cmfrtable walking shes, and they shuld fit prperly. Make sure yur she laces are tighted tight. Yu can trip...!!! Avid wearing yur mask while walking frm huse t huse. Carry nly flexible knives, swrds r ther prps. Avid pinted prps such as spears, r wands that endanger ther children's eyes.

Prper SAFETY knws n age barrier...! Visit huses that have lights n, especially huses with Hallween decratins. Always use the frnt dr, NEVER g t the back f a huse. Stay away frm any animals that yu dn't knw. Please dn't pet animals yu knw r dn't knw yu. Always carry a spare Hallween bag just in case yurs breaks. It wuld be very upsetting fr yu t lse all thse delicius cllected treats. Always be plite. And dn't frget t say "Thank Yu". Parents Make sure yur child eats a gd dinner befre ging ut Trick-r- Treating. They need prper energy tnight...!!! If yu buy a cstume, lk fr ne made f flame-retardant material. Make sure yu wrk int yur child's OR adult Hallween cstume, reflectr strips, a FLASHING safety light r the very ppular GLOW LIGHT STICKS t make everyne mre visible and much safer at night. SAFETY FIRST tnight f all nights...! Teach yur child hw call (r yur lcal emergency number) if they have an emergency r becme lst. Remind them that can be dialed free at any payphne. Bring yur child fr a visit t yur lcal plice r fire department. Children shuld carry several quarters s they can call hme. Let them brrw the FULLY CHARGED family cell phne, with hme number ready. Ideally, yung children f any age shuld be accmpanied by an adult. If yur children g n their wn, be sure they wear a watch, preferably ne that can be read in the dark. Althugh prduct tampering is rare, tell the children t bring ALL the candy hme t be inspected BEFORE cnsuming anything. Lk at the wrapping carefully and tss ut anything that lks like tampering. If yu child has an ALLERGY, VERY IMPORTANT t lk at the ingredients f the treats they bring hme. Limit the amunt f treats they cnsume n Hallween t avid any sickness. Hmewners Make sure yur yard is clear f such things as ladders, garden hses, dg leashes and lw flwer pts. These bjects can trip the yung trick-r-treater. Be sure the path and stairs t yur frnt dr are well illuminated and clear f bstacles. Duble check ALL the utside lights...!!! Pets get frightened n Hallween. Put them in a kennel tnight, t prtect them frm cars r inadvertently biting a trick-r-treater. OUCH...!!! GLOW LIGHT STICKS r battery pwered jack--lantern light are preferable t real flame candles. If yu d use candles, place the carved jack--lantern well away frm where trick-r-treaters will be walking r standing. Make sure that paper r clth decratins wn't be blwn int a flaming candle. NEVER leave any flaming candle unattended. BE PREPARED. Have a FULLY CHARGED fire extinguisher handy, just in case...! BE PREPARED. Pass ut healthy fd alternatives fr visiting trick-r-treaters. Include packages f lw-fat crackers with cheese r peanut butter filling, single-serve bxes f cereal, packaged fruit rlls, mini bxes f raisins and single-serve packets f lw-fat ppcrn that can be micrwaved later. 4 Crdinate a neighbrhd cstume r pumpkin carving party. Have each parent bring a pumpkin, small grab bag present and a small snack such as ckies r brwnies. Yu can set up varius games such as: Bbbing fr apples. Guess wh carved the jack--lantern. Guess the number f jellybeans in a canning jar. Guess wh is dressed under the cstume. Hallween Charades Party Game. Lts f party tips and suggestins...!!! Have a ghst stry telling sessins with the lights dwn lw and playing Hallween spky music in the backgrund...!!! Of curse the persn telling the stry shuld be wearing a "spirited ghst" cstume...! Have a great HALLOWEEN. Pet and Animal Owners Hallween can be a very traumatic and even dangerus time fr yur pet. Dn't leave yur pet ut in the yard n Hallween. Many strangers visiting in strange cstumes can be scary fr a dg. Be careful yur cat r dg desn't dart utside when yu pen the dr. DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT dress the dg r cat in a Hallween cstume. This actin puts a lt f STRESS n the animal...!!! Trick-r-treat candies OF ANY TYPE are nt fr pets. Chclate is pisnus t a lt f animals. Adult Hallween parties shuld have a designated driver. If yu drive a lng distance, make arrangements t stay ver.
