1 Installing the client software for ectrl To enable your usage of ectrl, you will need to install an Axapta client on your PC. We prefer that you utilize the so called web deployed client, which will enable you to access ectrl, even if we modify the address on the Internet. You do this via one of our web pages as described below: We have multiple websites to access the web deployed client. Each website hosted with different service providers, for availability purpose. (Danish, but with an English tab-page) For your convenience we have used the etrl.dk example with the English tab-page, see below. At the green arrows, please select your login language by clicking on your choice. This will take you to the installation process, if the Axapta client is not yet installed on your PC, If already installed, you will be forwarded directly to the ectrl login. Please be aware that the installation process is twofold. First a new client is downloaded, then the latest required service-pack is installed, and then you are ready to log on to the system. When you have selected the language, you will be asked software. Click the Install button. by Internet Explorer - if you want to install the Page 1 of 11

2 Then you see this screen: The correct answer is Yes Now you are about to get new software installed on your pc. You were told that it will take some time, and it certainly does. While this goes on, you will be entertained by the following screen: This is just to let you know that you are on the right track. Page 2 of 11

3 Finally when the software is loaded and the real installation is about to begin, you are asked to confirm the process: Select Next > So a new screen is shown: Now it is time to accept the license agreement by selecting: I accept the terms in the license Agreement. Then please select Next> Now if you wish, you may enter your name and the name of your organization. Please note that this is not your ectrl login : Page 3 of 11

4 Press Next>. At this point, you might be told, that the installation-program has found an old version of the software. If this is the first time you downloaded Axapta, this will just enable you to change the folder in which the software will be installed. We recommend that you accept the suggested path. The lower part of the screen is about upgrading the software, and it will only be shown if an old version was found, otherwise, go to the next screenshot. Page 4 of 11

5 If no existing software was found, the screen will look like the screen below. We still recommend that you just accept the path suggested. You can change if you insist, but why not just let it do, what it suggests to do. Here you select Next> You will get yet another screen: Page 5 of 11

6 For a change the magic word is now Install. Once you select that, the software installation begins. This will take some time, but an installation process bar will keep you updated on the process. Finally you see the following screen: The magic word is Finish, and so this ends the first part of the process, and the second part of the process is now about to begin. Page 6 of 11

7 In this part, the software - just installed on your PC - is adjusted with the latest service pack. The process is very much like the one you have just completed above, but just for the fun of it, we lead you through it by the hand. Here the answer buttons are displayed in Danish language, even though the questions are still in english. The word Ja = Yes and Nej = No. Please acknowledge the question to continue the process. Again, acknowledge the question in order to continue the process. A download process bar will be entertaining you, while the download is ongoing. Following that you may get an Internet Explorer Security warning, where you will have to allow the process to go on. Next step is a folder to hold the temporary files in: Page 7 of 11

8 Please do not bother to change. Just click "Next" to continue the process and again a process bar will entertain you for a short period. Now the next screen in the process looks like something you have seen before: Click Next> Again you must "Accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next> Page 8 of 11

10 Then you get the screen where "Next" is the correct answer, followed by the screen where you must click "Install", and finally you will see the Finish window. You click "Finish" on the last installation screen, and then after a reasonably short period, where windows is cleaning up the installation process - you are rewarded for your patience with the log-on screen. Type your username and password to ectrl, and then "Logon" Once logged in, you will be informed that you still need some files installed on your pc in order to use Axapta correctly. Click "OK" to install the files, and now an Axapta process bar will keep you posted on the file installation in Axapta. Note, you may receive an error message about a file and a trapping problem with this file. If so, just close this window, and wait until the Axapta process bar has terminated. Then you can begin using ectrl. To access the system afterwards, please use the webpage icon as indicated in the beginning. Page 10 of 11

11 When logged on to ectrl, you will actually have an Internet Explorer session open in the background. In the address line of this window, you will find the actual web-link used to access ectrl. This address you may also copy to a shortcut on your Desktop, and then use this shortcut instead. It is also possible to use the Axapta Configuration utility to make a local configuration to access ectrl with. However the setup of this is a bit more complicated, as it involved knowing actual addresses (IP and port and more).
