Licence checks will be carried out on the day and competitors are reminded that a valid licence must be presented upon request of the organising body or its representative, failure to do so may result in entry being denied.

Building on the success of last year, we are inviting more schools this year in a bid to increase the level of competition and to encourage and educate grass roots novices to the sport of karate, while offering elite athletes a chance to kick start their competitive year with this increasingly popular, provincial event. Situated off junction 11 of the M5, Gloucester is home to Roman foundations, Victorian Docklands, Gloucester Quays and the magnificent Norman Cathedral. Gloucester was founded in AD 97 by the Romans under Emperor Nerva as Colonia Glevum Nervensis, and was granted its first charter in 1155 by King Henry II. Economically, the city is dominated by the service industries, and has a strong financial and business sector, being home to the bank Cheltenham & Gloucester and historically was prominent in the aerospace industry. Children s Under 12 s Rules WKF rules with amendments as detailed below to better accommodate the young and inexperienced competitors. Red and Blue belts will be provided. Joint 3rd place / no repercharge. Kata Events Individual Competitors under 3 Kyu, and all PAIRS & TEAMS will be allowed to repeat a kata throughout their event. Competitors of 3rd Kyu and above MUST alternate between at least 2 kata from the WKF kata list. Under 3rd Kyu competitors will perform their kata in pairs. All finals will be conducted individually. 3rd Kyu+ will perform their kata individually. Kumite Events All kumite events, including team matches and finals, will be of 1½ minute duration. Any contact to head, face or neck, unless recipient s own fault (mubobi), will be penalised. Plain white WKF style hand mitts and elasticated Shin / Instep guards are permitted. WKF body protectors are optional, and Blitz design body protectors are permitted.
