In 2015 the 150-year-old building of the Main Railway Station (Dworzec Główny) was refurbished.as a result, this historical building has reached the highest international standards, while combining modernity and history. In Cuivavian-Pomeranian voivodeship there is also the Ignacy Paderewski International Airport in Bydgoszcz, which is situated 30 minutes drive from the center of Toruń. It offers regular international connections with Frankfurt, Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin, Dusseldorf, London and Liverpool, as well as domestic flights to and from Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań, Zielona Góra, and Cracow. 4 TORUŃ IS A BRIGHT SPOT FOR BPO TORUŃ A RISING STAR OF BPO The sector of modern office space in regional markets is clearly entering a rapid development stage. This situation results from a combination of several factors. Regional economic centers are so strong and dynamic that they create conditions for the development of local entrepreneurship and are able to attract foreign investors. This would not be possible without suitable human resources and proper educational and training facilities. The number of academic institutions as well as the high level of education they provide constitute considerable advantages of regional cities. This, in turn, leads to the dynamic development of the shared services sector (SSC), outsourcing (BPO), information technology (ITO), an research and development centers (R&D). The map of the rising stars of BPO/SSC sector in 2013 is a Colliers International report in which the company identified locations with the greatest potential in respect to the future development of the BPO/SSC sector in the Polish market. The report was published in the form of a map presenting the most important information on ten Polish cities which, apart from the main Polish BPO centers, have a chance of further development in this sector. The office runs a website which provides access to necessary information on town planning and local economy, presents the investment opportunities and advantages of Toruń, organizes seminars and meetings, publishes press announcements of upcoming investment projects and opportunities, and prepares visualizations. The information distribution system is mainly based on IT media, trade fairs and partners representing business support institutions, employers associations and non-governmental organizations working for the entrepreneurship support, and contacts with businessmen and entrepreneurs. One must not forget that Toruń is a large scientific and cultural center and a well-preserved historical city where guests can spend time in an attractive way. The most precious and greatest tourist attractions of Toruń are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This area consists of three historical medieval quarters: the Old Town, the New Town and the Teutonic Knights Castle. Toruń owes its international tourist renown to its numerous historical buildings. Toruń also has one of the oldest public parks in Poland. A real curiosity is a large nature reserve situated near the Old Town where one can admire fauna specimens from all over the world. There are hundreds of cultural events and international festivals taking place in Toruń every year which attract visitors from all over the world, for example; Bella Skyway, KONTAKT International Theater Festival, Tofifest International Film Festival, Festival of Music and Probaltica - Festival of Art of Baltic Countries. Sport events held in Toruń also enjoy huge popularity: 17th World Glider Aerobatics Championships, 19th World Rally Flying Championships, World Speedway championships SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX. Toruń has played host to numerous world- -class stars such as Jose Carreras and Rod Stewart who gave concerts on Toruń Motoarena. The state- -of-the-art Motoarena stadium is situated within city limits, barely 6 kilometers from the city center and the historical Old Town. The total are of the sports venue is over m 2. Its parameters make it the only sports hall in Poland ready to host full set of athletic events on international level.
