2 It is with great joy and anticipation that the Danish Squash Federation and Herning Squash Club are looking forward to hosting the upcoming European Team Squash Championships 2015 in Herning, Denmark. On April 29 to May 2 close to 200 athletes from all over Europe will meet in Herning, and it will be a unique opportunity to experience world-class squash from the best 19 European nations, including Denmark. Denmark was appointed host by European Squash Federation as late as the summer of During the past few months we have worked intensively on making these championships an experience that the participating nations will look back on as a memorable visit to our country. The extensive planning work would not have been possible without professional assistance and financial support. I would like to express sincere thanks to Sport Event Denmark and Herning Municipality as well as Sportscenter Herning for their great help and approachability. I hope that the tribunes around the center's 7 squash courts will be occupied with a lively and enthusiastic audience who - in a festive way - can get acquainted with our fascinating sport. 3 Welcome message from the ESF President, Zena Wooldridge OBE ESF President s Welcome On behalf of the European Squash Federation, welcome to the 2015 European Team Championships Divisions 1 & 2 in Herning, Denmark. Whether you are a player, coach, spectator or official, I hope you enjoy a memorable experience of the event, of Herning and Denmark. We are certainly delighted to be in Denmark. With 33 teams competing, the Championships promise to showcase some truly world class squash across the 4 days, including many of the world s top 20 players, and both the men s and women s World Team Champions (England) defending their European titles. May I take the opportunity to thank the Danish Squash Federation, and its President Tom Kjærbye Larsen for picking up the hosting of this event less than a year ago. Tom retires as President this year, and we hope this event is a fitting tribute to his 25 years service to squash and Danish Squash. The Championship would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the Town of Herning and the Sports Centre Herning; and ESF would like to express our appreciation to Herning Council for its contribution to the successful staging of our flagship European Championships, and in particular to Nanna Vildershoj Jensen, overall Project Manager. The squash technical leads behind the event is Championship Director Thomas Troedsson and Championship Referee Jens Kragholm, who we thank for their hard work in planning and delivering these Championships; and to Martin Wren (ESF Technical Director) for the considerable voluntary time and commitment he gives to this event and to European Squash generally. I m sure we ll see the best of squash spirit practiced on and off court over the 4 days, alongside some world class competition. Have a great championship. ESF Championships adjudicating panel (CAP) The CAP consists of the ESF Technical Director, Martin Wren, the Championship Director, Thomas Troedsson, and the Championship Referee, Jens Kragholm. The ESF Technical Director may recruit other members as appropriate. The Adjudicating Committee shall be responsible for all final decisions on appeals during the Championships. Championship rules The European Team Championships will be run in accordance with the ESF rules governing the ETC. The rules of the Championships are available on the ESF website and in the Championships Office. Copies are available on request. 4

6 Check-in accomodation All participants, officials etc. who have taken the standard package must report to the official tournament Hotel Scandic Regina, where you find the Championships desk from to on Tuesday. You will receive your room key at the hotel reception, at either Hotel Scandic Regina or Hotel DGI huset. There will be no hotel check-in at the venue. For those who have taken the basic package please report to the welcome desk at Hotel Scandic Regina from 12:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday. Every athlete, coach, manager, official ESF and supporter will be supplied with a badge. You will be required to wear this badge visible throughout the Championship. If you lose your badge, you must report this to the Championship Office immediately. All players must settle the bill for all their extras at the hotel reception before departure. Credit card information must be given at the hotel reception for each team at check in. No Check in will be possible without. Championships Office The Championships Office will be located on the first floor in the Sportscenter Herning. Here you can receive information about accommodation, meals, schedule, transportation, practice courts etc. Latest team information and updates will be displayed on the information board. Mail boxes for each team are situated in the Championships Office. To ensure the smooth running of the Championships, we ask Team Managers to visit the office to collect their team s information sheets and daily results, and to check their mail boxes on regular basis. 7 Meals - final dinner & party For all those who have booked the standard package all meals ( breakfast - lunch - dinner) will be served at these times: Breakfast will be served at your hotel from Lunch will be served at Sportscenter Herning from Dinner will be served at Hotel Scandic Regina from 06:30am to 10:00 am 12:00 pm to 17:00 pm 18:00 pm to 22:00 pm (Wednesday to 23:00 pm) If you have special requirements for the menu - allergy or vegetarian - please contact the Championship desk on arrival. The final dinner will be at Restaurant Teater Kælderen located at Østergade 37, Herning. Welcome drink will be served at 20:30. Wine and beer will be served for free during dinner. After dinner you can visit the will be bar for your own account. The restaurant is within walking distance from the hotels. See map at page 12. You will need your accreditation card and the Lunch vouchers card to eat at the hotel/sportscenter Herning and all other services. Don t lose it! Transportation There will be a shuttle service operating between the official hotels and the venue. Please see the shuttle schedule at page Arrival and departure All who book the standard package and have made travel arrangements will be picked up at Billund airport or Herning railway station. A volunteer will welcome you just look for the event logo. Departure times will be posted on the information board in the hotels the day before departure. Managers and Referees meeting The Managers Meeting for the Championships is held at Hotel Scandic Regina, on Thuesday 28. april 2015 at 20:00. 8 Referees/Markers ESF have provided 24 qualified referees and markers, to officiate all the matches. Squash ball The Dunlop PRO XX ball (double yellow dot) will be used for all matches. Tin height All men's division 1 matches will be played on courts with a 17" tin height. All others matches will be played with a 19" tin height. Team nomination - players on court The official squad playing order shall be adhered to throughout the Championships. Any player can be omitted from a Tie provided the replacement player is lower in the order of merit approved by the CAP. Unless the Championships Director is notified in writing at least one hour before the scheduled start of a Tie or within 10 minutes of completion of the previous Tie (whichever is the later), Managers shall be deemed to have selected their top players in the order of merit. The CAP reserves the right to allow changes to player nominations after the deadline for each Tie in exceptional circumstances. Daily team nominations must be handed in to the Championships Office at Sportcenter Herning or send by to: eurosquash2015@gmail.com at least one hour before the tie is scheduled to begin, otherwise the top players in the order of merit shall be deemed to have been selected. It is the responsibility of each team to be ready at he advertised start time of the tie. Each nominated player must be present at the venue at the start time of the tie otherwise he/she will be withdrawn from the team. 8

9 Playing order The playing order of the matches in all Ties on each day of the championships will be drawn by the CAP and shall be posted in the Championships Office and in the hotels. Practice courts Contact the welcome desk at Hotel Scandic Regina upon arrival Tuesday or Championships office Wednesday to Saturday to book times. There will be the opportunity to train on Tuesday, and every morning before am and on Thursday and Friday evening after the matches. Morning training is set to 20 minutes and evening training is from 30 minutes and more. Since all courts are used for the tournament, it is not possible to book practice courts during the day. Practice courts will be given from arrival on Tuesdays. In the morning they are given out in the order the teams will play their matches. Teams with early matches will get early practice. Medical Medical staff will be on duty during pre booked practice and at match times at the venue. Players who require medical attention outside match times should liaise with the Championships Office. In case of illness during night, contact the hotel reception for advice of doctor. Massage and physio bench A examined sports physio will be available in Herning within walking distance from hotels. The price for a session of 30 minutes is Dkk. 200 paid in cash. There will be a schedule at the Physio room for booking. 9

10 Antidoping The ESF and Host Association reserve the right to implement compulsory dope testing for any player participating in the Championships. Drug testing might be carried out during the European Championships under the regulation of Antidoping Denmark. Eye protection - junion players All junior players (U19) participating in the Championships must wear approved eye protection throughout prastice and play. Changing rooms The changing rooms are located in the Sportcenter Herning. Please follow signs on the doors for allocated changing rooms per day. Drinking water There are two bottles of drinking water for each player at each match. The water will be delivered at the court before the match. Please notice that the tap water in Denmark is an excellent quality and drinkable. Laundry We would like to offer you laundry service, for team t-shirts. If you would like to use this service, your team leader must collect each teams t-shirts and deliver them in one bag at luggage storage. The laundry will be ready for collection 24 hours later. This service costs 10 / 75 Dkk per team, paid in cash on delivery. Referee t-shirts can also be handed in at the end of a day and washed within 24 hours. Free of charge. 10

11 Squash bags All squash bags must be dropped-off at luggage storage. The storage is free of charge and will be staffed at all time. The storage can be used from 30 minutes before matches to the end of matches. Please do not leave any belongings in the changing rooms. Racket stringing Will be available in the hall every match day against payment by cash (Dkk or EUR) or credit card directly to the provider of the service. Team Photographs Team Photographs will be taken in the Volunteer and Referee room, Thursday and Friday. At the board at Championships Office there will be a schedule to book an appointment. Digital photos are for free and can be downloaded. If you want photos in print - please make agreements with the photographer. WI-FI There is free Wi-fi connection at venue: Herning kommune internet. No log-in code. There is also free Wi-fi at the hotels: get log-in informations from hotel. Prize-giving ceremony The prize-giving ceremony will follow immediately after the men s final. The top 3 teams - men and women - division 1 & 2 - must be present in the team track-suits at the glass court. Officical website #EuroSquash
