1 The 4-H IN- 4 -MER H EXPO A BIG SUCCESS!! APRIL H EXPO A Big Success!! The first 4-H EXPO was held in Graham County, March 17, at Wal-Mart from 11:00 a. m. to 6:00 p.m. Green clovers and balloons were everywhere!!! 4-H isn t just about ANIMALS any more!! Some of the activities for the public to enjoy where: Petting Zoo, Ceramics, Stringing Beads, up-close view of a Red Tailed Boa and an Iguana named Scissored!! He was the coolest! Food was also available for everyone s enjoyment: hot-dogs, popcorn and Pepsi. There were eighteen clubs and mini-series on display at this event. Here are a few of the mini-series that had displays: Astronomy, Mt. Bike, Bead Tech, Motor Mechanic s, Reading, Reptiles and Dance. Some clubs were: ATV, Clover Kids, Clown, Dog, Gardening, Goat, Swine, Home - Ec., Horse, Shooting Sports, Tweens and Teens. At each of these station registrations, newsletters, and more about 4-H could be learned. A BIG THANK-YOU goes out to Julie Castillo, Photo Dept. Manager at Wal-Mart; KFMM- KCUZ radio station; all members, certified leaders, resource leaders for the mini-series. Without all of these people working so diligently on this event, this 4-H EXPO would not be the success it was!!! The 4-H Expo Reptile Club Display!! 4 The 4-H IN 4-MER News Page 4 LIVESTOCK RULES FOR 4-H MEMBERS To SELL and SHOW large livestock at the Graham County Fair and Jr. Livestock Auction when using 4-H next to his/her name. 1. Each member has to attend 3 livestock project club meetings. They DO NOT have to attend the meetings with their animals to be able to sell/show them at the fair/auction. They cannot attend a meeting in any other NON-livestock project meeting and have it count toward their livestock club. 2. Members must attend 1 community club. 3. Members must attend 1 club clinic in each animal project area in which they will be selling/showing. 4. Members must participate in 1 county event other than the Graham County Fair. REMEMBER: to be eligible to show and sell, youth must be 9 years old before January 1 of this year. 4-H Leader s Livestock Committee : Bunny Dryden, Kaye Congdon, Tonie Skinner HOISINGTON TRAIL RIDE On Saturday, March 26th, our horse club took a trail ride at the Ten Mile Ranch. We met at the corrals next to the windmill at 9:30 a.m. Jan and J.D. Shipman, Rhonda and Shelby Leachet and Jackie Hoisington rode until about 1:00 p.m., stopping for lunch near a watering hole. We enjoyed the beautiful desert scenery and nice day that it was! Next time we hope that all of our club members can attend. 4-H TRADE CORNER FREE! Meet at the BLM Office th Ave., Safford Field Trip/Releasing Snakes Presentation. Dress appropriate for this outing. Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from this event. Saturday, April 23 Time: My 4-H Story Recordbook Workshop was held on Saturday, March 19, 2005, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Members attending this workshop were: Megan, Shannon and Mikala Burge, Megan Pierson, Rene Reynolds, and Kadi Vanderblomin. The workshop instructor was 4-H Dog leader, Jonie Burge. Attendees learned about what information is needed in their Recordbook section, My 4-H Story. Requirements for length, margins, font size and content were also covered. All members attending began working on their own stories.

An effective demonstration teaches others how to do something by showing while telling -- and showing really is worth a thousand words. At the end of a demonstration, you should have a finished product to show to your audience. INFORMATIVE SPEECH An informative speech tells about something. Topic must be 4-H project related.
